Prince Harry and Meghan’s Former Estate Agent Drops Major Hint Over £30m Montecito Home

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito mansion could reportedly fetch as much as £30 million if they decide to sell, as local property experts reveal growing interest in the Sussexes’ California residence following their extended return to Britain.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in the United Kingdom with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, where their children have begun a new chapter in their education while the family settles into its temporary British routine.

Their move has inevitably raised questions about the future of their American base, although Harry and Meghan have not announced plans to sell their Montecito property or indicated that they intend to permanently abandon California.

The Sussexes purchased the sprawling estate from a Russian businessman approximately six years ago for around £11 million, making the property their primary family home after stepping away from working royal duties and establishing themselves in America.

However, local property professionals claim speculation about a potential sale is intensifying, with wealthy prospective buyers already making enquiries in case the high-profile estate becomes available on the open market.

One area estate agent suggested the mansion could now command as much as £30 million, representing a remarkable increase from the amount Harry and Meghan reportedly paid when they acquired the property.

Village Properties, the estate agency that previously handled the mansion’s sale, has reportedly been receiving significant interest from ultra-wealthy individuals hoping to acquire the Sussexes’ home should the couple eventually decide to put it on the market.

According to staff, potential buyers are contacting the agency on a daily basis. Some are reportedly interested in living at the property, while neighbouring owners have considered acquiring the land to expand their existing estates.

Other unusual ideas have apparently been discussed as well, including the possibility of transforming parts of the extensive grounds into a golf course, illustrating the level of interest surrounding the valuable Montecito property.

“There are a lot of whispers that the house will be going on the market,” a Village Properties staff member identified as Kim told The Sun. “People are calling us daily asking about it.”

“I can’t see why they wouldn’t sell it,” he added, although his comments reflect local property speculation rather than confirmation from Harry, Meghan or representatives acting on behalf of the Sussexes.

Montecito estate agent David Encell went further, saying he would be “shocked” if Harry and Meghan still owned the mansion in 12 months, particularly if their extended stay in Britain results in the California property becoming only a part-time residence.

Encell estimated that maintaining the estate could cost approximately £30,000 each month once expenses including housekeeping, gardeners and pool maintenance are considered. “It’s a pretty expensive home to upkeep for a part-time place,” he explained.

For now, however, there is no confirmation that the Sussexes have listed the mansion or instructed an agent to sell it. Their continued ownership means talk of a £30 million sale remains speculation, but intense buyer interest suggests Harry and Meghan could be sitting on a substantial property gain if they eventually decide their Montecito chapter is coming to an end.
