Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Surprising Connection to King Charles’s Billionaire Friend
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly maintained a close friendship with hedge fund billionaire Ian Wace a friend of King Charles, whose country estate has been linked to speculation about where the Sussexes are staying during their extended time in the UK.
The surprising connection has drawn attention because Wace is said to have supported causes associated with the monarch, despite the ongoing distance between Charles and his younger son.
According to royal commentator Tom Sykes, the Sussexes became close to the 63-year-old financier while they were still working members of the Royal Family. Their friendship reportedly developed after a frightening incident aboard Wace’s private jet.
The couple were newlyweds when they allegedly travelled to Amsterdam with Wace after spending time in the Cotswolds, including at Soho Farmhouse, following their May 2018 wedding.
Sykes, citing what he described as a reliable source, claimed that an alarming mid-air incident brought the group closer together and created a lasting bond.
“It was a terrifying incident. Apparently, the plane wasn’t damaged, but it freaked everybody out, and they became firm and fast friends ever since,” Sykes said.
According to the commentator, the aircraft landed safely in the Netherlands but remained grounded for a week as a precaution. The group subsequently returned to England on a different jet.
The alleged incident has now become a key part of the story surrounding the Sussexes’ reported connection to Wace, whose friendship with the couple appears to have continued long after their time as working royals.
The connection is particularly striking because Wace is described as a friend of King Charles who has contributed to causes associated with the monarch. That relationship has prompted questions about how the financier came to be linked to Harry and Meghan’s reported UK arrangements.
Sykes has suggested that Wace’s large country estate in Northamptonshire could be the property where the couple are staying. He also stressed that the location is not actually in the Cotswolds, despite speculation connecting the Sussexes’ movements with the area.
The estate reportedly covers more than 700 acres, making it a substantial private property. However, the suggestion that Harry and Meghan are staying there has not been officially confirmed by the couple or Wace.
Sykes also pointed to Meghan’s recent social media posts as possible clues to the location. He argued that features visible in the footage and photographs could be compared with aerial and satellite images of the property.
Among the details he highlighted was a distinctive bridge beside a trout pond, which he linked to a September 13 social media image showing Harry fishing with his children.
The commentator claimed that the estate’s recognisable landmarks made its location easier to identify. Nevertheless, his interpretation remains an allegation, and the images alone do not establish the Sussexes’ current whereabouts.
The story has sparked further curiosity about the couple’s personal connections in Britain, particularly their relationship with people who also have links to the King.
For now, the reported friendship between Wace and the Sussexes offers an intriguing connection between two sides of a divided royal family. But neither the alleged private-jet incident nor claims about the couple’s current accommodation have been independently confirmed in the supplied report.
