President Trump Launches Fresh Criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Over Prince William Rift
US President Donald Trump has launched another blistering criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, this time taking aim at the couple over what he described as their “terrible” treatment of Prince William following years of royal family tensions.
Trump also appeared to place significant blame on the Duchess of Sussex for Harry’s strained relationship with his relatives, claiming Meghan had been a “horrible influence” on her husband since their relationship began attracting worldwide attention.
Speaking during an interview with GB News host Bev Turner, the President discussed the Sussexes’ relationship with the royal family following their shock return to Britain, arguing that too much had happened for their differences to simply be forgotten.
Trump began by expressing his admiration for King Charles, describing the British monarch as “fantastic” and a personal friend before turning his attention towards Harry’s memoir and Meghan’s influence on the Duke.
“First of all, I think King Charles is fantastic, he’s a friend of mine,” Trump said. “He [Prince Harry] wrote a book that was so bad, and she was a horrible influence on him. What she’s done to him is unacceptable.”
The President then focused specifically on Harry’s relationship with his elder brother, Prince William, claiming some of the things written by the Duke of Sussex had been particularly damaging towards the future King.
“But I think that what she [Meghan] has done and him [Prince Harry], he wrote a book that was very terrible to William, it was terrible,” Trump continued while sharing his assessment of the royal brothers’ fractured relationship.
Harry discussed several deeply personal disagreements involving William in his memoir, Spare. The book became another major source of controversy surrounding the Sussexes and further exposed the extent of the breakdown in relations within the royal family.
Trump suggested that if he had experienced similar treatment, he would not have been prepared to repair the relationship. The President admitted his position might be wrong but said he would have responded much more firmly.
“I’m sure I’m wrong on this, but I would not have taken him back. I would have never spoken to him again,” Trump said, apparently referring to the possibility of reconciliation following everything that has happened between Harry and his family.
The US President went even further by accusing Harry and Meghan of displaying “too much hate” and doing “too many really bad things,” making clear that he remains strongly critical of the Sussexes and their actions towards the monarchy.
His latest remarks arrive as Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain continues to generate significant attention, particularly over what their renewed presence in the country could mean for their future relationship with Charles, William and other members of the royal family.
Trump’s comments also came just 24 hours after he delivered another criticism of the Duke and Duchess, saying he “wouldn’t have taken them back” following their surprise return to the United Kingdom after spending years based in the United States.
While the Sussexes have not responded to Trump’s latest remarks, the President has now made his position unmistakably clear, strongly defending Charles and William while blaming both Harry and Meghan for the bitterness that has surrounded their relationship with the royal family.
