Lady Louise and Boyfriend Felix’s Old Fashioned Romance Draws Royal Comparisons
Lady Louise Windsor and her boyfriend Felix da Silva Clamp appear to be quietly carving out a very different kind of royal romance, with their low-key relationship attracting comparisons to a much-loved couple from the past.
At 22, Louise and Felix may be young, but their relationship is said to have an unexpectedly old-fashioned quality, with the pair seemingly preferring shared interests and quiet moments over the glamour often associated with high-profile young couples.
While many people their age may be drawn to late nights, celebrity parties and crowded clubs, Louise and Felix appear equally comfortable dressing up for an evening at the theatre.
Their understated courtship has reportedly drawn comparisons to the early relationship between the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, whose long partnership was built on friendship and shared interests.
Louise is believed to have met Felix while they were both studying at the University of St Andrews, the same university famously attended by Prince William and Princess Kate.
According to royal author Robert Jobson, the pair first became friends after being cast together in a student production at the Byre Theatre. Their friendship reportedly developed gradually into something more, with Louise and Felix first being linked romantically in 2024 and believed to have been in a relationship since June 2025.
For several months, Felix remained almost completely outside the royal spotlight, with royal watchers often referring to him simply as Louise’s “pal.”
The couple appeared to make little effort to attract public attention, allowing their relationship to develop quietly rather than turning it into a high-profile royal romance.
Felix has, however, gradually become a more familiar presence at events important to Louise, including a performance of the Zulu ballet Inala during the Edinburgh International Festival.
He reportedly joined Louise and her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, at the performance and was seen chatting warmly with members of the cast.
Felix has also become a regular supporter at Louise’s carriage-driving competitions, appearing happy to cheer her on from the sidelines during events. At the Ashfields competition in Essex, Jobson said spectators watched Felix “punch the air” as Louise successfully came through the water during the competition.
The royal author described the scene as anything but glamorous, noting that there was “nothing royal about him” as he stood in a wet Essex field cheering enthusiastically for his girlfriend.
That simple moment may offer the clearest glimpse into the nature of their relationship, with Felix appearing more interested in supporting Louise than gaining attention from her royal connections.
There appears to be little showmanship surrounding their courtship, with their shared interests, university connection and quiet encouragement of one another taking centre stage.
As Lady Louise continues to balance her private life with her place within the Royal Family, her relationship with Felix appears to be developing away from the intense public spotlight, creating a romance that seems refreshingly understated.
For now, their relationship remains one of the quieter royal love stories, but the couple’s growing number of appearances together suggests that their bond is becoming increasingly difficult for royal watchers to overlook.
