Piers Morgan Taken Aim At Prince Harry After Duke’s Calls for Royal Family Peace

Piers Morgan has taken aim at Prince Harry following the Duke of Sussex’s latest comments about repairing his relationship with King Charles and Prince William, branding him a “flame-thrower” in a pointed response on social media.
The British broadcaster reacted after Harry spoke to GQ about his hopes of moving beyond the family’s long-running disagreements. The Duke said he remained optimistic about reconciliation, although his remarks have prompted fresh debate over whether relations can improve.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Morgan criticised Harry’s wish to make peace with relatives he has spoken about publicly in recent years.
“Flame-thrower wants to make peace with the people whose houses he torched and is baffled they’re not interested…” Morgan wrote.
The presenter’s comment reflected his longstanding criticism of the Duke and his approach to discussing private family matters in public. However, the remark represents Morgan’s personal opinion rather than an official position held by the Royal Family.
Harry’s GQ interview was conducted last month and released while members of the Royal Family were carrying out engagements in Windsor for the start of the Sultan of Oman’s state visit.
During the interview, Harry suggested that not everyone wanted reconciliation to succeed, saying: “Some people don’t want it to work out.”
The Duke has previously spoken about his difficult relationship with his relatives and his desire to improve matters. His latest comments again raised the possibility of a fresh start, while making clear that mutual respect would be important.
Harry said he could respect his family if they respected him and his position. His remarks appeared to underline that he wants any reconciliation to acknowledge his perspective, rather than simply returning to the circumstances that existed before his departure from royal duties.
Morgan, however, questioned the reasons behind Harry’s apparent interest in improving relations and returning to Britain. In a follow-up post, he wrote: “Real reason: Hollywood’s had enough of them so they’re running out of cash.”
The claim about the Sussexes’ finances was Morgan’s own allegation, and no evidence was provided in the post to establish it as fact.
The broadcaster also appeared on Fox & Friends, where he criticised Harry and Meghan Markle over their public comments about the Royal Family. He described their actions as “contemptible hypocrisy”, arguing that their latest statements represented a change in approach after years of criticism.
Morgan suggested that the couple were reconsidering their position as public interest in their grievances faded. However, this was his interpretation of events, and the interview does not establish that the Sussexes have changed their views for financial or publicity reasons.
Harry’s memoir, Spare, previously offered his account of the family breakdown and the serious damage to his relationship with William. The book brought further attention to disagreements that had largely remained private before Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties.
The brothers have not publicly confirmed any new agreement to reconcile, and there has been no announcement of a planned reunion. Harry’s latest comments express a desire for progress, but they do not guarantee that his relatives will respond positively.
For now, Morgan’s sharp reaction has added another public voice to the debate surrounding Harry’s hopes for peace with his family. Whether the Duke’s appeal leads to meaningful progress remains uncertain, while the disagreement over how family matters should be discussed continues to divide opinion.
