Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Considering Giving Up Royal Titles Amid Reconciliation Struggle

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering giving up their royal titles as uncertainty continues over their relationship with the Royal Family and their hopes of reconciliation.
The Duke of Sussex has previously been linked to efforts to rebuild his relationship with King Charles and Prince William, but recent developments have raised fresh questions about whether he will continue pursuing a royal reunion.
King Charles has made clear that the Sussexes’ position as non-working members of the Royal Family will not change, leaving Harry and Meghan to continue building their lives independently in the United States.
Against this backdrop, a source close to the couple has suggested that they could soon make an announcement addressing the future of their titles.
“Meghan and Harry never had any intention to exploit or benefit from their royal titles. They always wanted to build their own identity while still respecting the monarchy,” the source claimed.
The insider added that the couple could consider dropping their titles to put an end to continuing speculation about their relationship with the institution.
However, the reported discussions are said to involve concerns about how such a decision might be interpreted by the public and the wider Royal Family.
The source suggested that Harry and Meghan understand that giving up their titles could create further difficulties for the monarchy, particularly if people misunderstand the reasons behind their decision.
The possibility comes at a sensitive time for Harry, who is reportedly still hoping to make progress with his father and older brother after years of strained relations.
Despite those hopes, there has been little indication of a major breakthrough, leaving questions about how long the Duke will continue trying to repair the family relationships.
If the Sussexes eventually decide to relinquish their titles, it would represent a significant development in their public relationship with the Royal Family, although no official announcement has confirmed such a move.
Former Buckingham Palace press secretary Dickie Arbiter has previously offered his perspective on whether Harry could lose his princely title.
“You can’t really take the title prince away because he hasn’t done anything wrong,” Arbiter said.
The former royal aide also explained that Harry was born a prince and that disagreements within the family were a private matter rather than grounds for removing his birth title.
His comments highlight an important distinction between Harry’s status as a prince by birth and the separate question of whether he and Meghan choose to use their other royal titles.
For now, the reported possibility of giving up their titles remains unconfirmed, while Harry’s hopes of rebuilding relationships with his father and brother appear to remain unresolved.
