Princess Beatrice and Eugenie Face Difficult Christmas Decision as Andrew’s Court Appearance Sparks Fresh Family Crisis

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are facing an agonising decision over their Christmas plans as their father Andrew prepares to appear in court as a witness in a major fraud trial, threatening to bring fresh attention to the York family’s troubles.
The sisters had seemingly been enjoying a period of relative normality in their family relationships after recently being spotted alongside their mother, Sarah Ferguson, at a sombre service in the UK. However, the latest development involving their father has reportedly placed them under renewed pressure.
Andrew has been served with a summons requiring him to give evidence in a High Court fraud trial expected to take place around December 15. His appearance is not directly connected to the Epstein scandal, which has continued to cast a shadow over his reputation.
Although Andrew is expected to appear as a witness rather than a defendant, his involvement could still attract difficult questions about his financial arrangements.
Reports suggest he received some of the disputed payments, including a transfer worth £750,000 made through the BBC. The circumstances surrounding those payments could therefore become an important subject during the proceedings.
The timing is particularly difficult for the York family, as the trial is expected to take place shortly before Christmas, potentially bringing renewed media attention to Andrew and his former wife.
For Beatrice and Eugenie, the situation could complicate what should otherwise be a family-focused festive season.
Royal expert Chris Riches believes the sisters would have been eager to take their families back to their former Windsor home. However, the latest developments have reportedly created uncertainty about where their loyalties should lie.
Last Christmas, both princesses joined the traditional Sandringham walkabout, but this year they could face a considerably more difficult decision about how to divide their time between their parents and the wider Royal Family.
Writing for the Express, Riches suggested the sisters could feel enormous pressure not to disappoint either Andrew or Ferguson. “This year they must feel under huge pressure not to snub both parents again,” he wrote.
The royal expert also suggested that completely avoiding both parents could leave Beatrice and Eugenie worrying about their emotional wellbeing, particularly after the difficult experiences their family has faced during 2026.
“If they shun them both, they will be panicking about their parents’ mental health. After what they have suffered in 2026, both Andrew and Fergie will be desperate to spend some downtime with their grandchildren,” Riches added.
The situation is further complicated by the intense media attention surrounding the York family, meaning even a seemingly ordinary Christmas decision could attract widespread speculation.
For the sisters, spending time with their parents while maintaining their relationships with the wider Royal Family could prove particularly challenging.
Their children are also an important part of the equation, with both Andrew and Ferguson reportedly keen to enjoy time with their grandchildren during the festive period.
Whether Beatrice and Eugenie choose to spend Christmas with their parents, join the Royal Family at Sandringham or divide their time between the two remains uncertain.
One thing is clear: Andrew’s approaching court appearance has created another difficult moment for the York sisters, just as their family appeared to be finding some stability.
