Prince George Makes Princess William and Princess Kate Proud as He Clears Tough Stage for Eton
Prince George has reportedly given Prince William and Princess Kate another reason to be proud after successfully clearing the demanding process required to enter Eton, beginning a major new chapter in the young future King’s education.
William and Catherine were all smiles as they accompanied their eldest son to the prestigious school earlier this week, marking an important milestone not only for George but also for the wider Wales family.
The moment was reportedly emotional for Kate as she watched her son take another significant step towards independence. However, the Princess is also believed to have confidence in George’s ability to handle the academic and personal pressures ahead.
Before George’s Eton place became clear, considerable speculation surrounded where William and Kate would send their eldest child, particularly because boarding school represents a major change from the family routine he previously knew.
Royal editor Emily Nash believes the decision itself demonstrates how confident William and Kate are in their son, arguing that Catherine would not have agreed to Eton unless she believed George was capable of succeeding there.
“I think what William and Catherine have done is they’ve chosen the school that is right for him,” Nash explained while discussing the thought process behind the important educational decision.
She added that the couple will similarly “choose the school that’s right for each individual child,” suggesting George’s path should not necessarily be viewed as an indication of where Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis will eventually study.
William and Kate are considered particularly well placed to assess their children’s individual personalities, strengths and needs, while their decision regarding George followed extensive consideration of the different educational options available.
Nash also suggested George successfully gaining entry offers an indication of his academic abilities, describing the milestone as evidence that the young Prince is a “smart kid” who has met Eton’s expectations.
The royal editor stressed that modern admission to the prestigious school cannot simply be guaranteed by a famous family name, even when the prospective pupil happens to be the son of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
“I genuinely don’t think that in this day and age, they could put someone into Eton and get them through in the way that may have happened in previous generations,” Nash said.
Her assessment suggests George’s royal status alone would not have been enough to secure his place without demonstrating that he could cope with the demands of the school and successfully complete its admissions requirements.
Kate’s longstanding interest in childhood development and education may also have played an important role in the family’s decision. According to Nash’s reasoning, the Princess would have carefully considered whether George could thrive before supporting the move.
Securing his place was therefore only the first major challenge. George must now adjust to a demanding new environment while continuing to grow under extraordinary public expectations as second in line to the throne.
For William and Kate, however, the milestone appears to have begun on an encouraging note. Their smiles as they accompanied George reflected a proud family moment, while the Prince now faces the bigger test of proving himself during the next stage of his education at Eton.
