Queen Camilla Dragged Into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Palace Row
Queen Camilla has been pulled into the growing controversy surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to UK, with fresh claims suggesting she may have supported King Charles decision to reinforce the Sussexes’ non-working royal status.
Charles has shown no indication that he opposes rebuilding his personal relationship with Harry or developing closer ties with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but any family reconciliation remains separate from the Sussexes’ institutional position.
Their return has nevertheless generated intense speculation about how Buckingham Palace, Prince William and Camilla view Harry and Meghan establishing themselves in Britain again while pursuing independent charitable and commercial activities.
The Palace recently issued guidance through the Lord Chamberlain to relevant authorities, reiterating that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and operate effectively as “private citizens” rather than representatives of the Crown.
There is no confirmation Camilla requested or helped initiate that communication. However, speculation has emerged that she could have been among those supportive of Charles drawing a clear boundary around the Sussexes’ position.
The claims have been linked to lingering tensions following Harry’s memoir Spare, in which he discussed Camilla and his complicated feelings surrounding her relationship with his father and her place within the royal family.
An unnamed royal insider cited by Radar claimed those comments remain extremely painful for Camilla, alleging that remembering what Harry wrote still makes the Queen “sick to her stomach.”
“She’ll never forgive the awful things Harry said about her,” the source claimed, before making strongly critical allegations about Meghan and suggesting Camilla remains deeply suspicious of the Duchess’s influence over Harry.
The insider went considerably further by alleging Camilla had issued Charles an ultimatum: “It’s either Harry or her.” According to the source, this has supposedly left the King facing an “awful position” between his wife and youngest son.
There is no official evidence that Camilla delivered such an ultimatum, and neither Buckingham Palace nor the Queen has publicly confirmed that she played any role in the recent guidance concerning Harry and Meghan.
Meanwhile, commentator Kinsey Schofield has claimed there is suspicion among people within William’s orbit that the Sussexes recognise the importance of rebuilding their royal connections while Charles remains on the throne.
“There is a suspicion within Prince William’s orbit that Harry and Meghan understand the clock is ticking and want to re-establish their position, influence and proximity to the monarchy while Charles is still king,” Schofield said.
Another unnamed source alleged Harry believes spending more time around Charles could give him greater influence before William eventually becomes King. The source also claimed the Sussexes face financial pressure while maintaining their lifestyle and various projects.
Those claims about Harry’s motives, finances and Camilla’s alleged intervention remain unverified insider accounts. What is established from the supplied information is that Charles has reinforced the Sussexes’ non-working status, while any private reconciliation with his son does not automatically provide Harry and Meghan with a route back into official royal life.
