Queen Camilla ‘Upset’ by Painful King Charles Claim Following Death of His Former Love

Queen Camilla was reportedly left upset by an unexpected description of King Charles former girlfriend following her death, with an insider claiming the Queen was particularly troubled by suggestions that Davina Sheffield had once been the monarch’s “soulmate.”

Charles recently received the sad news that Davina, with whom he had a serious relationship during his younger years, had died at the age of 75 following a short illness.

Her death was confirmed by her three sons, Tom, Billy and Henry, and subsequently prompted renewed attention on Davina’s relationship with the then-Prince of Wales and speculation that she could once have become his wife.

Charles was reportedly saddened by the news, but the renewed discussion surrounding his former romance is now claimed to have caused a separate difficulty for Camilla after some accounts described Davina as his “soulmate.”

According to an insider cited by New Idea, that particular description came as an unwelcome surprise to the Queen, who has been married to Charles for more than two decades.

“Camilla was profoundly upset to hear Davina described as Charles’s soulmate,” the source claimed, suggesting the terminology surrounding his former girlfriend’s death created an uncomfortable situation inside the royal household.

“It was a shock to hear another woman be described as his ‘soulmate’,” the insider continued. “For the past 30 years, Charles has told her in no uncertain terms that she was his ‘soulmate’.”

The source argued that the extraordinary difficulties Charles and Camilla endured before eventually marrying demonstrated the depth of their relationship and explained why the comparison with Davina may reportedly have bothered the Queen.

According to the insider, Charles “wouldn’t have risked the huge scandal that came with the biggest divorce of the 20th century” unless his relationship with Camilla had held exceptional importance for him.

“Her nose is out of joint over this assumption about Davina, and Charles has been on the back foot with her questions,” the source claimed, although neither Buckingham Palace nor Camilla has publicly confirmed such a disagreement.

Camilla has remained a prominent source of support for Charles during his reign, including throughout his cancer treatment, while continuing to undertake her own programme of royal duties.

The insider suggested that support remains unchanged despite the alleged irritation. However, Camilla reportedly wants the “soulmate” descriptions and comparisons involving Charles’ former girlfriend to come to an end.

Davina was linked romantically with Charles in 1976 and was reportedly considered a serious potential bride. Their relationship ultimately ended amid the strict expectations then surrounding the future King’s choice of wife.

Claims that Davina was Charles’ “soulmate,” as well as reports about Camilla’s reaction, remain attributed insider accounts rather than statements from the King or Queen. Nevertheless, Davina’s death has unexpectedly revived attention on a long-closed chapter of Charles’ romantic history, reportedly leaving Camilla uncomfortable with how that relationship is now being portrayed.
