Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Make One Major Request to King Charles as Royal Roles Ruled Out
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly have one major request for King Charles following their return to UK, but sources insist it has nothing to do with reclaiming their former positions as senior working members of the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced renewed speculation about their intentions since returning to the UK with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, particularly as they prepare to increase their charitable and public-facing activities in Britain.
Buckingham Palace recently moved to clarify the situation through an official letter, confirming that the arrangements established when Harry and Meghan stepped away from representative royal duties remain firmly in place despite their renewed presence in the country.
However, a source close to the Sussexes has claimed that overturning those arrangements was never something Harry and Meghan requested, insisting the couple have no intention of attempting to restore their previous working royal positions.
“Meghan Markle and Prince Harry never pressured the monarch to overturn Queen Elizabeth’s decision regarding their royal roles,” the insider claimed, rejecting suggestions that the Sussexes had been seeking an institutional comeback.
Instead, the source said Harry and Meghan’s priorities have shifted towards repairing damaged personal relationships and protecting their children’s connection with their royal relatives as the family begins another important chapter in Britain.
“What the Sussexes truly want is peace, for the King and for themselves,” the insider explained. “Their focus now is on their children’s future,” rather than reopening negotiations surrounding their former royal status.
Harry is also reportedly exhausted by the years of controversy surrounding his relationship with the monarchy. “Harry just wants to reconcile with his family, nothing else. He’s fed up and tired of all the drama as he continues his charity work.”
According to the source, Harry’s biggest request to Charles concerns Archie and Lilibet. The Duke reportedly wants his father to continue showing affection towards his grandchildren and ensure they maintain a meaningful relationship with the King.
“The Duke has just requested the monarch to continue his affection and love for Archie, Lilibet as he does not want them to be denied their birthright,” the insider claimed while explaining Harry’s priorities.
The source added that this family connection matters more to Harry than “any other luxury or status,” suggesting the Duke considers his children’s relationship with Charles far more important than obtaining an official position within the monarchy.
Meghan, meanwhile, is said to remain committed to the life and professional interests she established in California. Her extended presence in Britain is therefore not being presented by the source as an attempt to recreate her former life as a working royal.
The Sussexes reportedly consider the question of their official roles to have been settled years ago. They intend to pursue the charitable and commercial projects important to them without seeking the hybrid royal arrangement discussed around the time of their departure.
For Harry and Meghan, their reported goal is therefore personal rather than institutional: ending hostilities with Charles and allowing Archie and Lilibet to enjoy a closer relationship with their grandfather. Whether wider royal reconciliation follows remains uncertain, but sources insist a return to working royal life is not what the Sussexes are asking for.
