Duchess Sophie Earns Most Well Behaved Royal Title As Expert Reveals Why She Is the Monarchy’s Secret Weapon

Duchess Sophie has been praised as the royal family’s “most well-behaved royal” by an etiquette expert, who believes her grace, emotional intelligence and dedication make her one of the monarchy’s most valuable assets.

The Duchess of Edinburgh has increasingly attracted admiration for the way she carries out her royal responsibilities, with her approach to public appearances and official engagements earning particular recognition.

Although Princess Catherine is often described as a jewel in the monarchy’s crown, Sophie has been given a different distinction. She has been labelled the royal family’s “secret weapon” because of the work she undertakes on behalf of King Charles, particularly when representing him overseas.

Laura Windsor, founder of the Laura Windsor Etiquette Academy, shared her assessment of Sophie in an interview with HELLO! magazine. She praised the duchess for the way she represents the monarch and carries out her duties.

“She is becoming the secret weapon of the royal family because she represents the King abroad,” Laura explained.

The etiquette specialist went further, describing Sophie as someone who consistently demonstrates polite behaviour and deserves greater recognition for her contribution. She argued that the duchess receives less media attention than her work merits.

Laura also highlighted Sophie’s support for charitable organisations, particularly those helping women facing difficult and distressing circumstances. She suggested that much of this work takes place without attracting the attention it deserves.

The expert recalled that Sophie has acknowledged that relatively few people know about her activities, describing the duchess’s attitude as modest rather than arrogant. She also said Sophie is highly admired by King Charles.

In addition to her public service, Laura praised Sophie’s emotional intelligence, describing it as an important quality for someone carrying out royal duties. She believes the duchess understands traditional expectations while adapting naturally to the responsibilities of modern royal life.

The author of Modern British Manners – A Cross-Cultural Series also compared Sophie with Meghan Markle, describing the two women as “polar opposites” in their approach to royal etiquette.

Laura suggested that Sophie’s understanding of royal traditions comes naturally to her, rather than being something she has simply learned through formal instruction.

The expert said Sophie had displayed maturity from the beginning of her royal journey, taking her position and responsibilities seriously. She pointed to the duchess’s posture, movements and conduct as examples of her confidence and composure.

Laura also praised the way Sophie approaches her role without making herself the centre of attention. In her view, the duchess’s focus remains on the organisations she supports and the responsibilities she carries out.

She concluded by praising Prince Edward for choosing Sophie as his wife, describing her as a lovely woman and noting that the couple have largely avoided negative publicity.

The comments offer another glimpse into why Sophie continues to receive praise from royal commentators. While the etiquette expert’s description is a personal assessment rather than an official royal title, her remarks underline the qualities that have helped establish the Duchess of Edinburgh as a respected member of the monarchy.
