Meghan Markle Returning to US Just Days After King Charles Firm Royal Letter
Meghan Markle is reportedly preparing to return to the United States for work just weeks after moving back to UK, with the upcoming trip attracting attention following King Charles firm clarification about the Sussexes position outside the working monarchy.
The Duchess of Sussex returned to the United Kingdom with Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at the end of August as the couple began an extended British stay centred partly around their children’s education.
Despite intense speculation surrounding their arrival, Harry and Meghan had not claimed that the move represented an attempt to resume official royal duties or establish themselves once again as working members of the royal family.
A friend of Harry previously indicated that the Duke had no intention of returning to his former senior royal role, with his priorities instead reportedly including rebuilding his relationship with Charles and allowing his children to develop a closer connection with their grandfather.
The Sussexes spokesperson had also made clear that the family’s return should not necessarily be interpreted as a permanent relocation. Instead, the arrangement was described as an extended stay, leaving Harry and Meghan able to maintain their existing connections with America.
Now, royal expert Alison Boshoff has claimed Meghan will travel back to the United States for “work,” meaning the Duchess could return to Montecito only weeks after beginning the family’s latest chapter in Britain.
“She is going back by the way, here at half term and in the holidays,” Boshoff told NewsNation while discussing how Meghan could divide her time between Britain and California over the coming months.
“Half term is five weeks… so she is just dipping in and dipping out again,” the royal commentator continued, suggesting Meghan’s schedule will involve regular travel rather than remaining continuously in Britain throughout the school term.
Boshoff claimed: “In five weeks, she’ll be back in Montecito for a week,” before suggesting the Duchess would subsequently return to Britain for another period as the children continue their schooling.
“Then she’ll come back, do another five weeks, another five weeks in her Cotswolds prison, and then back to Montecito for Christmas,” Boshoff added, using the pointed description while outlining Meghan’s alleged travel schedule.
The timing has attracted particular attention because the reported trip follows closely after a letter issued by the Lord Chamberlain on Charles’ instructions clarified Harry and Meghan’s status following their increased presence in Britain.
The communication reiterated that the Duke and Duchess remain outside the working monarchy and conduct their charitable and commercial activities independently. Describing them as effectively “private citizens” concerned their institutional position rather than preventing them from maintaining public or commercial careers.
Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson subsequently said the couple were “surprised” by the communication, adding another complication to reconciliation hopes that had been growing following reports of improving relations between Harry and his father.
There is currently no evidence that Meghan’s reported US trip was prompted by Charles’ letter or represents an early retreat from the Sussexes UK plans. If Boshoff’s account is accurate, her travel instead appears consistent with a temporary transatlantic arrangement allowing the family to maintain commitments in both Britain and America.
