“The shock of witnessing these fires around the world in recent months reminds us forcibly of the mounting pressures that prolonged heat and drought are placing upon our precious Earth,” the King said.
He called for stronger collective resilience through preparedness and risk reduction while also arguing for action addressing the “root causes of climate change,” warning that failing to do so could create conditions for increasingly frequent destructive events.
Charles then returned his attention to those rebuilding their lives, praising the “compassion and fortitude” displayed by communities affected by the fires while recovery efforts remain underway.
