Prince William and Princess Kate Set for Glamorous Tom Cruise Reunion at Major London Event
Prince William and Princess Kate are preparing to bring royal glamour to London next week as the couple reunite with Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise for one of their most eagerly anticipated joint appearances.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the world premiere of Digger at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square on Tuesday, September 22, putting the couple firmly back on the red carpet.
The event will have added royal significance because the premiere has been selected as the 73rd Royal Film Performance, continuing a longstanding connection between the monarchy and Britain’s film and television industry.
Proceeds from the occasion will support the Film and TV Charity, which provides assistance to people working throughout the UK’s film, television and cinema industries and is marking its centenary.
William and Kate are expected to meet Cruise during the premiere alongside Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, setting up another high-profile encounter between the Waleses and one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
It will not be their first memorable red-carpet appearance together. William and Kate previously joined Cruise at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London in 2022.
Kate attracted considerable attention that evening in a striking off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret gown, while Cruise created his own memorable royal moment by offering the Princess a helping hand as she climbed the steps outside the cinema.
Their forthcoming reunion therefore promises another combination of Hollywood celebrity and royal tradition, with the Waleses expected to meet members of the cast and creative team involved in the new production.
Digger is the latest project from acclaimed filmmaker Iñárritu, with Cruise starring as Digger Rockwell. The film also features a prominent ensemble cast including Riz Ahmed, John Goodman and Sandra Hüller.
Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons are also among the stars attached to the project, adding further Hollywood firepower to a premiere already expected to receive significant international attention.
The event carries particular relevance for William because of his longstanding relationship with Britain’s creative industries. As President of BAFTA, the Prince has regularly supported those working across film and television.
William has also made environmental issues a major part of his public work, providing another connection with themes surrounding the project while he continues balancing his charitable priorities with his increasingly prominent royal responsibilities.
The filmmakers have meanwhile praised the skills and expertise of the British crews involved in bringing Digger to the screen, making London a particularly fitting location for the film’s major world premiere.
For royal fans, however, much of the attention will inevitably fall on William and Kate as they make their glamorous return to Leicester Square. Four years after their memorable Top Gun: Maverick appearance, the couple are preparing to share the spotlight with Cruise once again at one of London’s biggest film nights.
