Another source of irritation reportedly involved the steady flow of stories concerning Harry and Meghan’s plans in Britain, with friends of the Sussexes accused of “spoon-feeding friendly publications with details about their plans.”
“They’ve only been back a matter of days and can have barely unpacked but we keep hearing how they want to step up their charity work which would inevitably raise their public profile,” the source explained.
“It’s exasperating,” the insider added, reflecting the reported frustration among figures close to Charles as speculation continued about how the Sussexes intended to operate during their extended stay in the United Kingdom.
There were also reported concerns surrounding suggestions that Harry and Meghan could effectively establish a “rival court” in Britain, pursuing prominent charitable activities while remaining outside the official structure of the working royal family.
Such speculation reportedly raised enough concern for Charles’ office to clarify the boundaries before confusion escalated further. However, there is no indication that the Sussexes themselves have formally announced plans to establish any alternative royal operation.
