King Charles Could Be Closer To Granting Prince Harry’s Wish After Major Palace Change

King Charles could be one step closer to granting Prince Harry’s long-standing wish following a significant change inside the Royal Household, with reports suggesting the departure of a key palace figure may reshape future discussions over the Duke of Sussex’s security concerns.

Prince Harry has remained locked in a dispute over his security arrangements since stepping back as a senior working royal in 2020. The Duke has repeatedly argued that he and his family require enhanced protection whenever they travel to the United Kingdom.

For years, Harry has maintained that decisions surrounding his security have prevented him from feeling safe enough to spend more time in Britain with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

One of the figures frequently linked to the long-running dispute is Sir Clive Alderton, King Charles’ principal private secretary and one of the monarch’s most trusted advisers. Reports now suggest that Alderton is expected to step down from his role next year.

Royal author Valentine Low has previously suggested that although Prince Harry never directly named Sir Clive in his memoir Spare, it appeared he was referring to the senior palace aide by using the nickname “the wasp.”

Speaking about the relationship, Low said Harry portrayed the senior courtier as someone who appeared polite and diplomatic on the surface but who could become a formidable opponent if challenged.

The royal author also noted that there had been a noticeable level of tension between Sir Clive and the Sussexes during the years surrounding their departure from royal duties.

However, Low cautioned against placing responsibility for every disagreement on one individual. He explained that while senior palace advisers play an important role in shaping discussions, they are not ultimately responsible for making royal decisions.

According to the commentator, private secretaries provide advice and recommendations, but major decisions continue to rest with senior members of the Royal Family, including the King himself.

With Sir Clive reportedly preparing to leave his position, some royal observers believe King Charles could take a more direct role in future discussions surrounding Prince Harry’s concerns about security.

Reports have suggested that Harry has long hoped his father would become more personally involved in resolving the issue, particularly as the Duke continues efforts to rebuild his relationship with the monarch.

The speculation comes as discussions surrounding Harry’s security remain unresolved, with a fresh assessment still reportedly pending and no official outcome yet announced.

Although there is no indication that Sir Clive’s departure will automatically change the final decision, royal experts believe the leadership change could alter the way future conversations are handled within palace circles.

For now, attention remains focused on whether the improving relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry, combined with the upcoming change in senior palace personnel, could finally create an opportunity to address one of the Duke’s longest-running concerns.
