Queen Camilla’s Hidden Fear Revealed Despite Years Of Royal Travel

Queen Camilla’s hidden fear has once again attracted attention despite the Queen spending decades travelling across the world alongside King Charles. Although she has represented the monarchy during countless overseas tours and official engagements, Queen Camilla has openly admitted that air travel remains one of her biggest personal challenges.

The 79-year-old has spoken openly about her long-standing fear of flying, admitting that travelling by air has always been a challenge. Despite carrying out duties in countries across the globe, she has acknowledged that boarding a plane remains an experience she does not particularly enjoy.

Over the years, Queen Camilla’s fear of flying has reportedly influenced several aspects of her schedule. On some occasions, the condition has even led to adjustments being made to planned royal engagements abroad.

One of the most widely discussed examples occurred during the royal tour of Australia in 2018. During the visit, Queen Camilla reportedly returned home earlier than expected, drawing attention to her well-known concerns about air travel.

At the time, a spokesperson for Clarence House addressed the issue publicly. The representative acknowledged that the Queen had always struggled with flying but understood that international travel remained an important part of royal life.

The spokesperson explained that Queen Camilla sometimes had to confront her fears despite her anxiety. The comments offered a rare insight into the personal challenges that can accompany public responsibilities.

According to Harley Street hypnotherapist and phobia specialist Christopher Paul Jones, Queen Camilla’s experience is more common than many people might realise. He explained that millions of travellers experience similar concerns every year.

The expert estimated that approximately 40 per cent of travellers experience some form of anxiety when flying. As a result, aerophobia has become recognised as one of the world’s most common phobias.

Christopher Paul Jones also noted that the fear is rarely linked directly to the aircraft itself. Instead, he suggested that feelings of uncertainty and a lack of control often play a much greater role.

According to the specialist, every person’s experience can be slightly different. While some people are concerned about turbulence or heights, others become anxious because of confined spaces and the inability to leave the aircraft.

The expert further explained that one of the greatest concerns for many passengers is the possibility of experiencing panic during a flight. Anticipating that fear can sometimes become more distressing than the journey itself.

Jones pointed out that many people become anxious simply because they are worried about becoming anxious. He explained that this cycle of concern can make it much more difficult for individuals to feel relaxed while travelling.

Despite the challenges she has faced, Queen Camilla has continued to undertake official visits throughout the world in support of King Charles. Her determination to carry out those responsibilities has earned admiration from many royal observers.

Although fear of flying remains a personal struggle, Queen Camilla’s experience highlights the fact that even senior members of the Royal Family face difficulties that affect millions of people around the world. Nevertheless, she has continued to fulfil her duties while confronting those fears head-on.
