King Charles Receives Heartbreaking News as Lifelong Friend Dies During Caribbean Tour

King Charles suffers heartbreaking loss on first day of Caribbean tour as his lifelong friend Simon Rufus Isaacs the fourth Marquess of Reading has died aged 84.
The death was announced on Wednesday by Simon’s daughter, fashion designer Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, who shared an emotional tribute to her father on Instagram.
Her announcement came as the King began a nine-day visit to the Caribbean, adding a deeply personal moment to an important period of royal engagements overseas.
The 43-year-old designer posted a collection of family photographs, including a touching image of herself smiling while her father held her in his arms.
Simon had been part of Charles’s social circle for decades, with the two families sharing longstanding connections. Their friendship reportedly stretched back to their childhood years.
Lady Natasha, whose luxury fashion label Beulah London has been worn by the Princess of Wales, remembered her father as a devoted parent and grandfather who brought immense love to his family.
“Daddy, Uppa, how incredibly blessed we were to have had such an incredible father and grandfather for so many years,” she wrote.
She also described the special relationship he shared with her daughters, recalling how he spent time hugging and playing with them.
“Every photo I can find is of you with my girls, hugging them, playing with them. You loved them with all your heart, and you showed them unconditional love. How blessed were we,” she added.
The designer went on to praise her father’s courage during the final period of his life, expressing pride in the way he faced his difficulties.
“You fought the good fight right up until the end, your bravery was immense and I am so proud of you. Your legacy will live on in us all,” she wrote.
Simon was a prominent figure in royal social circles. An Old Etonian and former banker, he was described as a lifelong friend of King Charles, with their connection dating back many years.
His death marks the loss of someone who had been connected to the monarch and his family for much of their lives. However, there has been no public statement from Buckingham Palace about the news in the supplied report.
Simon’s family title will now pass to his son, Julian Rufus Isaacs, who is 40. He becomes the fifth Marquess of Reading following his father’s death.
Julian is also known for his childhood connection to Prince Harry, having been described as a close friend of the Duke of Sussex when they were younger.
As the King continues his Caribbean visit, the news represents a sad personal development during a tour that carries significant diplomatic and historical importance.
Lady Natasha’s tribute has offered a glimpse into the family’s grief, remembering a father and grandfather whose love, courage and close relationships will remain central to his legacy.
