Prince William Breaks Silence With Major Announcement Amid Harry’s Diana Documentary Buzz
Prince William has broken his public silence with a major announcement as speculation grows around Prince Harry’s possible Princess Diana documentary, choosing to put the spotlight firmly on projects tackling some of the world’s biggest environmental challenges.
The Prince of Wales’ team introduced the 2026 Earthshot Prize finalists working towards the “Fix Our Climate” goal, highlighting innovative projects designed to address extreme heat, renewable energy and threats facing farmers.
The announcement comes as William faces renewed attention over reports that Harry is considering a documentary about their late mother ahead of the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death in 2027.
William has not publicly addressed the proposed project or reports claiming he opposes Harry taking the lead on another major portrayal of their mother.
Instead, his latest update remained focused on Earthshot, one of the Prince’s most significant long-term initiatives and a project closely associated with his vision for creating practical environmental solutions.
Among the finalists highlighted by William’s team was Mahila Housing Trust, which is working to help some of India’s most vulnerable communities cope with increasingly dangerous extreme heat.
The Earthshot Prize said the organisation supplies solar-reflective white paint that can make homes five degrees cooler, while also providing insurance that pays out when temperatures become too high for people to work.
Mahila Housing Trust aims to expand significantly by 2030, with ambitions to reach millions of homes and women across India and potentially beyond.
Another finalist is Ørsted, which Earthshot described as a world leader in offshore wind after undertaking a dramatic transformation of its energy business over the past two decades.
“Twenty years ago, the company was one of Europe’s most coal-intensive energy companies,” William’s team explained while outlining the scale of the transition.
Earthshot said Ørsted subsequently rebuilt its business around renewable energy and has cut its direct carbon emissions by more than 98 percent. The company is now constructing Hornsea 3, described by the Prize as the world’s biggest offshore wind farm.
Pula was also introduced among the finalists for its work providing affordable insurance to farmers using satellite and field data. According to Earthshot, its services currently reach 24 million farmers across Africa and Asia.
The initiative is designed to protect farmers’ livelihoods and help them continue producing food when climate-related events threaten their income, with Earthshot pointing to the approximately 500 million smallholder farmers worldwide as evidence of its potential scale.
Prince William’s Earthshot announcement does not constitute a response to Harry’s reported Diana documentary plans, and Kensington Palace has made no public connection between the two developments.
However, while speculation continues over how William feels about his brother potentially revisiting Diana’s story, the Prince of Wales is publicly keeping his attention on Earthshot and the environmental work he has made a central part of his royal role.
