Prince William’s Palace Video Reveals Unexpected Prince Harry Link on Duke’s Birthday
Prince William has sparked interest with an unexpected detail in a new Palace video after the future King personally marked a date linked to Prince Harry while carrying out a meaningful engagement amid their continuing estrangement.
The Prince of Wales was visiting Princetown as his younger brother celebrated his 42nd birthday, with the timing inevitably attracting attention given the continued uncertainty surrounding the brothers’ relationship following Harry’s return to Britain.
William and Harry have reportedly remained out of direct communication for years, and there has been no indication that the Duke of Sussex’s extended return to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children has yet produced a breakthrough.
Royal commentators have offered differing views about whether reconciliation remains possible, with some expressing hope that proximity could eventually help while others remain sceptical that either brother is currently prepared to make the first move.
Against that backdrop, William appeared in Princetown for an engagement highlighting efforts aimed at “keeping heritage craft alive on Dartmoor” and supporting local artists, makers and craftspeople.
During his visit to Princetown Press at Gather & Moor, William was filmed taking part in the traditional craft and personally inking the date “September 15, 2026” as part of the activity.
The moment attracted additional attention because September 15 was Harry’s 42nd birthday, creating an accidental connection between William’s public engagement and an important personal date for his estranged younger brother.
“Meeting the team behind Princetown Press at Gather & Moor,” the accompanying description explained, adding that the new visitor centre provides local artists, makers and craftspeople with space to showcase their work.
There is no evidence William deliberately wrote the date as a hidden birthday tribute to Harry. It was simply the date of his engagement, meaning any suggestion of a coded message between the brothers would be speculative.
Nevertheless, the coincidence stood out because there appeared to be no public royal birthday message for Harry this year, despite the Duke now being physically much closer to his family after returning to Britain.
It is also understood that William and Harry did not communicate privately for the occasion, suggesting that the geographical distance between them may have narrowed without yet producing a corresponding change in their personal relationship.
Buckingham Palace likewise did not issue an official birthday message for Harry. The Duke did receive a public royal acknowledgement when he turned 40, however, marking a significant milestone birthday.
As a non-working member of the Royal Family, Harry is not necessarily expected to receive official social-media messages for every birthday, making the absence of a public greeting on his 42nd less surprising than it might otherwise appear.
William’s handwritten date therefore should not be treated as evidence of reconciliation. Still, in the current atmosphere surrounding the brothers, the Palace footage produced a striking coincidence: on Harry’s first birthday during his new UK chapter, William permanently put his brother’s birthday date onto a piece of Dartmoor heritage work.
