Prince Harry Sets New Priority With King Charles as Archie and Lilibet Begin UK Chapter
Prince Harry has reportedly placed rebuilding his family relationship with King Charles high on his priority list following his return to UK with the Duke hoping to arrange regular informal meetings involving Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
While Harry continues dealing with the crucial issue surrounding his family’s security in the United Kingdom, his renewed proximity to his father has apparently created an opportunity to make up for years of limited contact between Charles and his Sussex grandchildren.
The King is known for his affection towards his grandchildren, and his cancer diagnosis has placed even greater attention on family relationships. Harry is now reportedly determined to ensure Archie and Lilibet have opportunities to properly know their grandfather.
According to a new Daily Mail report, a friend of the Duke has revealed that Harry hopes to establish a much more relaxed routine with his “pa,” potentially meeting Charles for tea approximately once every month.
Rather than turning those meetings into formal royal occasions, Harry reportedly wants them to remain private family moments, keeping the wider Palace operation out of the arrangements as much as circumstances allow.
“They are hoping to see more of the King and for the children to properly get to know him and be a part of his life,” Harry’s friend explained while discussing the Sussex family’s intentions following their UK return.
The source suggested the meetings could be deliberately simple, allowing Charles to spend ordinary time with his grandchildren without the attention and formality normally associated with major gatherings involving members of the royal family.
“I do think Harry will try to make his arrangements without involving the Palace apparatus as far as he can,” the friend continued, indicating the Duke wants greater control over how these private family encounters are organised.
The source offered an example of what Harry apparently has in mind: “Yes, a cup of tea and a run around the garden for half an hour on a Sunday, that sort of thing.”
Such meetings would represent a markedly informal approach to rebuilding family ties. Rather than relying on major public reunions, Harry appears to be hoping that regular private contact can gradually strengthen the relationship between Charles, Archie and Lilibet.
The plans also fit with claims that Harry and Meghan Markle have been “deliberately keeping as low a profile as possible” since returning, as they attempt to establish their new routine without turning every family development into a public event.
According to the report, the Sussexes are also honouring an agreement made in July, while Harry is said to be sending a clear message that he intends to live in Britain “as much of a private citizen as possible.”
There is currently no official confirmation that monthly meetings between Charles and the Sussex family have been agreed. The Daily Express reportedly contacted both Buckingham Palace and representatives for the Duke of Sussex for comment regarding the claims.
Nevertheless, if Harry succeeds in establishing the informal routine described by his friend, his UK return could give Archie and Lilibet considerably more time with their grandfather while allowing Charles and his younger son to rebuild their relationship quietly, one private family meeting at a time.
