Palace Quietly Considers Emotional Prince William and Harry Reunion With King Charles Raising No Objection
Prince William and Prince Harry could be brought together for an emotional tribute with royal sources claiming a special church service involving both brothers is now being seriously considered by Palace circles without any objection by King Charles.
The proposed reunion would coincide with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death on August 31, potentially offering William and Harry a deeply personal reason to appear together despite their longstanding differences.
The timing is particularly significant because Harry is already expected to be in Britain earlier that summer for the Invictus Games in Birmingham, scheduled to take place from July 10 to 17, 2027.
Royal commentator Richard Eden has discussed a theory circulating among sources that a commemorative service could be organised on or around August 31, creating an opportunity for Diana’s sons to honour their mother together.
The idea would echo the service held for Diana on the tenth anniversary of her death in 2007, when William and Harry joined other members of the Royal Family in remembering the late Princess.
Daily Mail columnist Ephraim Hardcastle has claimed King Charles has “raised no objection” to the possibility of a thanksgiving service commemorating his former wife.
“It would be similar to the 2007 service on her tenth anniversary at the Wellington Barracks Guards’ Chapel, where her favourite music was played and Harry delivered the eulogy,” Hardcastle wrote.
Such a ceremony could provide a more neutral setting for William and Harry than attempting to organise a private reconciliation meeting, particularly given the years of tension that have surrounded their relationship.
Hardcastle suggested that although the brothers appear to have rejected the prospect of working together, “the religious event might help heal the rift.”
A source cited by Eden added: “The notion of a service including both brothers is being seriously considered. This would be an inspirational way to remember Diana.”
The proposal comes as both princes consider separate ways of marking the anniversary. Harry’s spokesperson has confirmed that the Duke is exploring possible projects commemorating his mother, with a television documentary among the possibilities under consideration.
William, meanwhile, has reportedly received approaches about participating in a separate television project but is understood to have declined, amid suggestions he does not want his tribute portrayed as competing with Harry’s.
Instead, William could potentially take part in the proposed service by giving a reading or contributing in another personal way, allowing him to honour Diana without entering what could be framed publicly as a documentary rivalry with his younger brother.
No service or reunion has yet been officially announced by Buckingham Palace, and the brothers’ participation remains speculative. Nevertheless, if the proposal moves forward, Diana’s 30th anniversary could create a rare opportunity for William and Harry to stand side by side again — not because their differences have necessarily disappeared, but because of the enduring love they share for their mother.
