Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been settling into ordinary family life in UK with the Duke and Duchess quietly stepping out to buy school supplies for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as their children begin a major new chapter.
Archie and Lilibet have returned to school, but this year brings a dramatic change for the Sussex children as they begin their education in Britain rather than continuing their previous routine in the United States.
Harry and Meghan are said to be concentrating on making the transition as comfortable as possible for their children, even attempting to avoid attention while carrying out the everyday responsibilities familiar to parents preparing youngsters for school.
According to The Sunday Times, the Sussexes are still adjusting to their surroundings after returning from the United States, with unpacking and recovering from jet lag forming part of their hectic first days back in Britain.
“They’re buying school uniform and trying to buy pencil cases without being spotted,” a source revealed, offering a glimpse into Harry and Meghan’s efforts to carry out routine shopping without attracting cameras or unwanted public attention.
The insider also dismissed suggestions that the couple are unhappy about their return, insisting: “They wanted to come back; they’re excited about being back and everything that’s to come.”
Once Archie and Lilibet are comfortably established in their new school routine, attention is expected to turn towards Harry and Meghan’s own plans, including future public appearances, charitable activities and rebuilding professional connections in Britain.
Meghan, in particular, is reportedly eager to reconnect with people and organisations she previously worked with before leaving the country, while also exploring new causes she could support during this latest stage of her public life.
“She is thinking about plans for how she can get more involved and support the causes she was supporting and was passionate about again, and new causes too,” an insider said about the Duchess’ intentions.
The source added that Meghan “wants to pick up with a lot of people,” suggesting her return could involve rebuilding relationships within Britain’s charitable sector rather than focusing exclusively on commercial or entertainment projects.
One organisation that could potentially feature in those plans is Smart Works, the charity supporting unemployed and vulnerable women that Meghan became involved with following her marriage to Harry and during her period as a working royal.
“Smart Works is a cause she was and remains deeply passionate about,” the source explained, adding that Meghan “may well look to rekindle that relationship” and become involved in a more meaningful way now that she is back in Britain.
However, Meghan’s renewed UK presence reportedly does not mean she intends to abandon the charitable and professional work she established in America. The insider stressed that she is “no less committed to her work and causes there” simply because she is currently in Britain.
For now, Harry and Meghan’s immediate attention appears firmly centred on Archie and Lilibet. From shopping for uniforms and pencil cases to helping their children adjust to a new school, the Sussexes are beginning their British chapter with ordinary parenting duties before stepping more prominently back into public life.
