Prince George Begins Major New Chapter as Prince William and Princess Kate Join Him for First Day at Eton
Prince George has officially begun a major new chapter in his life, arriving at Eton College for his first day accompanied by his proud parents Prince William and Princess Kate, as the 13-year-old takes another step towards independence.
The Prince and Princess of Wales personally escorted their eldest son to the prestigious institution, ensuring they were beside him for the milestone moment as George began creating his own path at the school once attended by his father.
Footage released from the special day showed the Wales family arriving together, with Kate carrying an umbrella as she walked alongside her eldest child and appeared to encourage him during his first steps into his new educational surroundings.
The milestone comes during a particularly eventful period for the wider royal family, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently back in Britain. However, George’s first day remained firmly focused on the young Prince and his education.
Video of the family’s arrival quickly attracted attention on social media. Royal commentators, including Rebecca English, also shared footage of the historic moment as supporters sent messages wishing George well at the beginning of his Eton journey.
New photographs also provided a closer look at the future King wearing his Eton College uniform. Three images of George were shared as royal watchers marked an important transition from his years of preparatory education to life at the famous institution.
Before beginning at Eton, George attended Lambrook School in Berkshire, where he studied alongside his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, after the Wales family made the school an important part of their children’s upbringing.
Charlotte, 11, and Louis, eight, remain at Lambrook while their elder brother moves forward to the next stage of his education, making George the first of William and Kate’s three children to leave the school.
His arrival at Eton also follows a significant family connection. William attended the institution during his own teenage years, meaning George will experience many of the same traditions and surroundings that formed part of his father’s education.
However, the young Prince will now have the opportunity to establish his own identity at the school rather than simply following William’s footsteps. His first day marks the beginning of a substantially more independent lifestyle.
As a boarder, George is expected to receive his own single room in one of Eton’s 25 boarding houses. Each house accommodates approximately 55 students under the supervision of a house master and residential staff.
Attending the elite institution comes with a substantial financial cost, with annual fees reportedly standing at roughly £65,000. Admission is also demanding, requiring prospective pupils to successfully complete the school’s entrance assessments before securing their places.
For William and Kate, George’s arrival at Eton represents an emotional parenting milestone as their eldest child moves beyond the educational routine he previously shared with Charlotte and Louis and begins experiencing greater independence.
With his parents beside him for those important first steps, George has now officially started his Eton journey. The milestone signals a new stage not only in his education but also in the gradual preparation and personal development of the young Prince who will one day become King.
