Prince Harry Hopes King Charles Will Join Him At Extra Special Invictus Games

Prince Harry is taking steps toward a potential next family meeting with King Charles by hoping the monarch will join him at the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, an appearance that could make the event “extra special” for the Duke of Sussex.

Harry is said to be feeling more optimistic about the future of his relationship with his father following their reported private meeting at Highgrove House last month. The Duke is now reportedly keen to build on that encounter.

According to reports, Harry has been considering inviting Charles to open the Birmingham Games alongside him as a public show of unity. While tensions between the Sussexes and the wider Royal Family have not completely disappeared, Harry is said to hope his father will consider the invitation.

The reported plans come after Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, met King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove for the first time in around four years. The reunion is believed to have encouraged Harry to continue looking for ways to bring his family closer to his relatives in Britain.

Security remains a major issue for the Duke, particularly when he considers bringing Meghan and their children to the UK. Harry has previously argued that adequate protection is essential if his family is to travel with him.

“The last few years have been incredibly emotional for him, and now he’s reached a place where he wants to not only visit his home country more, but also would really like to be with his family,” a source told The Mirror.

The source claimed that Harry has no intention of abandoning his efforts over security, as resolving the issue could make it easier for Meghan, Archie and Lilibet to accompany him on future trips to Britain.

“Harry is not going to give up pursuing the security avenue because that would guarantee Meghan and the children coming over with him, and alleviate a lot of the stress he is under when it comes to arranging such a trip,” the insider said.

Harry is reportedly hoping that the Birmingham Games can become a particularly memorable occasion for his family. Having Charles present alongside him could give the event a deeply personal significance beyond its importance as a sporting competition.

The source suggested that Harry wants the Games to be the “best” and “extra special”, ideally with his father and other members of his family there to support him. However, Meghan and the children’s attendance could depend heavily on whether the Duke is satisfied with the security arrangements.

Harry has previously expressed his desire for reconciliation with his family, and the latest reports suggest that he remains conscious of avoiding actions that could damage the progress made with Charles.

“He’s said before that he would like reconciliation with his family, so undoubtedly he’s determined to make things work, and that means not doing anything to jeopardise that,” the source claimed.

A public appearance by Charles alongside Harry at the Invictus Games would undoubtedly attract worldwide attention and could be viewed as a powerful symbol of improving relations between father and son.

The source said: “If the King were to attend the Invictus Games next year, and appear in public with him, it would be a huge moment for all of them.” There has been no official confirmation that Harry has invited Charles or that the King plans to attend, but the possibility could make the Birmingham Games a significant moment for the Sussexes and the wider Royal Family.
