Meghan Markle’s Althorp Photo Divides King Charles and the Spencer Family
Meghan Markle’s latest social media post has reportedly sparked mixed reactions, with claims that King Charles and Prince William were left unhappy while the Spencer family may have welcomed the renewed attention on Princess Diana’s childhood home.
The Duchess of Sussex recently shared a summer photo collection featuring moments from her family’s holiday. Among the images was one that many believe was taken at Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place.
The photograph showed Prince Harry carrying bouquets of flowers as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet walked beside him through the estate’s picturesque grounds. The image quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from Meghan’s social media update.
Although Meghan did not identify the location in her post, many royal watchers claimed the photograph was taken during the Sussexes’ reported visit to Althorp following their recent trip to the United Kingdom.
The family is believed to have visited the estate after reuniting with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Reports suggested the visit allowed Archie and Lilibet to connect with the memory of their late grandmother, Princess Diana.
However, the publication of the photograph has reportedly sparked concern within royal circles. Commenting on the situation, gossip columnist Rob Shutter claimed the image may have upset senior members of the Royal Family.
According to an insider quoted by Shutter, Prince William remains deeply protective of Princess Diana’s legacy. The source suggested the Prince of Wales was disappointed by the decision to share the image publicly.
“William has always been fiercely protective of his mother’s memory. He’s upset, but sadly, he’s no longer shocked by anything Harry and Meghan do,” the insider reportedly said.
The same source claimed that King Charles was also unsettled by the photograph. According to the report, even those who normally avoid commenting on the Sussexes felt the image crossed a line.
“Even people who usually refuse to comment on Harry and Meghan are wincing. The feeling is that some family moments are simply too sacred to share,” the source added.
While the photograph reportedly caused discomfort within the Royal Family, Rob Shutter suggested the reaction from the Spencer family could have been very different. He argued that the renewed focus on Althorp may have benefited the historic estate.
According to the report, increased public interest in Princess Diana’s childhood home could attract greater attention to Althorp and its history. That attention was described as a positive outcome for the Spencer family.
“Earl Spencer knows every headline brings attention to Althorp. More interest in Diana’s resting place is ultimately good for the family estate,” the report stated.
Meghan Markle’s latest social media post has therefore continued to generate discussion from different perspectives. While reports claim King Charles and Prince William were left disappointed by the publication of the photograph, the same reports suggest the increased attention surrounding Althorp may have been welcomed by the Spencer family, keeping Princess Diana’s legacy firmly in the public conversation.
