Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘Offer Win-Win Deal’ to Royal Family to Reconnect with King Charles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly proposed a “win-win” arrangement to the Royal Family that could allow them to reconnect with King Charles and attend important family occasions without returning to full-time royal duties, as fresh reports suggest the couple could eventually move to Australia.

According to a report in The Sunday Times, the proposed arrangement would require agreement from all sides, including Prince William and Princess Catherine. The idea would reportedly allow the Sussexes to attend important family occasions without returning to full-time working royal duties.

A source quoted by the newspaper said the arrangement would need to be agreed upon by everyone involved. Under the suggested model, Harry and Meghan would remain much more private than working, while still being present at selected family events.

“It needs all sides to agree to a template for ‘private royals-plus’,” the insider reportedly said, adding that the couple could be seen at occasions such as Christmas at Sandringham.

However, the source also acknowledged a major obstacle: William and Catherine would need to support the proposal. The insider questioned how such agreement could be achieved, describing the prospect as implausible under the current circumstances.

The reported proposal comes after years of strained relations between the Sussexes and senior members of the Royal Family. Harry and Meghan stepped back from official royal duties in 2020 and subsequently established their lives in California, while continuing to undertake independent projects and charitable work.

A return to selected family gatherings would represent a different arrangement from the couple’s former working roles. However, there has been no official confirmation that Harry and Meghan have formally submitted such a proposal or that the Palace is considering it.

Meanwhile, a separate report in Woman’s Day has raised the possibility that Australia could eventually become a longer-term base for the couple. According to royal insiders cited by the publication, the Sussexes are attracted to the country and have considered the idea of putting down roots there in the future.

The source claimed that the UK remains a priority for now, particularly because Harry and Meghan reportedly want their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend time with King Charles and experience British schooling.

“But down the line a move abroad, and specifically to Australia, totally appeals to them, for sure,” the insider reportedly said, describing the couple as fond of Australia’s culture, weather and people.

The source also referred to the warm reception the Sussexes reportedly received during a previous visit, suggesting that their experiences there had strengthened the country’s appeal as a possible future destination.

If the reports are accurate, the couple could be weighing two separate considerations: maintaining a connection with Harry’s family in Britain while preserving the freedom to build their own lives outside the monarchy. However, neither the proposed royal arrangement nor a future move to Australia has been publicly confirmed by the Sussexes.

The suggestion that Archie and Lilibet could spend more time in Britain has also renewed interest in Harry’s relationship with his father. Charles is their grandfather, but there has been no official announcement of a new schooling plan or a settled arrangement for regular family visits.

William and Catherine’s reported involvement would be particularly significant because any change to the Sussexes’ relationship with the institution could affect the wider family. Yet the claim that they would need to approve a new arrangement comes from the reported proposal, not an official Palace statement.

For now, the idea of “private royals-plus” remains a reported possibility rather than an agreed royal strategy. Likewise, Australia is being discussed as a potential future home, not a confirmed relocation destination.

Whether the Sussexes can find a compromise that allows family ties to improve without a return to official duties remains uncertain. For the moment, both the proposed arrangement and the prospect of an eventual Australian move remain dependent on decisions that have yet to be publicly announced.
