Prince Harry and Meghan Issue Furious Response After Archie and Lilibet School Privacy Scare
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a furious response after photographers were allegedly spotted looking into the grounds of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s school, condemning the incident as an “unacceptable intrusion” into children’s privacy.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke their silence through a spokesperson after reports claimed two photographers were seen walking around the perimeter of the school attended by King Charles’ grandchildren.
Private security personnel and school staff reportedly noticed the individuals near the grounds, raising immediate concerns because of Harry and Meghan’s longstanding determination to shield their children from intrusive media attention.
“The decision by photographers to conduct themselves in this way around a school is extraordinarily reckless,” the Sussexes’ spokesperson said in a strongly worded statement.
“There is a world of difference between legitimate media activity and photographers walking the perimeter of a school, stopping to look into the grounds and monitoring children as they go about their day,” the statement continued.
The spokesperson also suggested the photographers involved were connected to European paparazzi, expressing concern that the privacy of children attending school had apparently not been respected.
“It is concerning enough that certain European paparazzi appear unwilling to respect the privacy of children at school,” Harry and Meghan’s representative said.
The statement then referenced a recent incident at RAF Fairford, arguing that the latest episode demonstrated “an extraordinary lack of judgment” given the Sussex family’s existing security concerns.
“But to behave in this manner in these particular circumstances, and so soon after the incident at RAF Fairford, demonstrates an extraordinary lack of judgment,” the spokesperson continued.
Harry and Meghan’s representative stressed that the concern went beyond whatever photographs the individuals may have hoped to obtain, pointing instead to the potential consequences of photographers operating around a school.
“Whatever photographs they may have been seeking, this was not only an unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children; it was an irresponsible and ill-considered way to conduct themselves in the vicinity of a school,” the statement concluded.
Reports have suggested that two photographers, believed to be associated with a European press agency, were involved. Earlier accounts said the Sussexes’ protection officers recorded the registration number of their vehicle, which was reportedly a rental.
The episode comes shortly after Archie and Lilibet changed schools following discussions with the family’s security team over the practicalities of their previous arrangements. Harry and Meghan have also consistently limited clear public images of their children as part of their efforts to protect their privacy.
With Harry’s UK security arrangements already receiving renewed attention, the school incident is likely to reinforce the couple’s concerns about protecting Archie and Lilibet. Their unusually forceful statement now makes their position unmistakable: whatever interest surrounds the Sussexes’ return to Britain, they believe their children’s school life should remain firmly off limits.
