Meghan Markle has found herself facing fresh competition within British high society as her relationship with Princess Kate remains strained, with a royal expert suggesting tensions involving David and Victoria Beckham may have been fuelled partly by jealousy.
The Beckhams have strengthened their connections with prominent British figures in recent years, with David developing particularly visible links to the royal family and working alongside senior royals including King Charles and Prince William.
The former England football captain also received a knighthood last year, further cementing his standing within Britain’s establishment and marking another significant milestone for a family whose public profile has continued to expand internationally.

The source claimed this perceived “double standard” has become a recurring frustration for Meghan, who reportedly believes she has faced an unusually intense level of online criticism since becoming one of the world’s most recognisable public figures.
“This apparent double standard is a constant issue for Meghan, who sees herself as one of the most trolled women on the planet,” the insider continued, offering an explanation for why the Beckhams’ success could reportedly prove frustrating.
David and Victoria’s growing popularity has also been strengthened by their entertainment projects, including documentaries released through Netflix, while their continued presence within influential British social circles has kept them closely connected with the establishment.
According to Larcombe’s assessment, these developments may have intensified the bitterness surrounding the former friendship. He suggested Meghan had been “furious” and claimed that “envy” played a role in the breakdown between the Sussexes and Beckhams.
The argument is that the Beckhams have achieved a position Meghan may have wanted for herself: enjoying access to elite royal and social circles while remaining independent and free from the responsibilities associated with being a working member of the monarchy.
The claims arrive while Meghan’s own relationship with Princess Kate reportedly remains difficult. Despite renewed attention surrounding Harry and Meghan’s UK presence, there has been no confirmed breakthrough suggesting the two women have repaired their differences.
