King Charles Office Issues Major Update as Prince Harry Takes Decisive Step
King Charles office Buckingham Palace has issued an important update amid renewed attention remains focused on Prince Harry’s as he takes deceive step and trying to rebuild his relationship with his father.
The announcement concerns Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, the longtime royal aide who has served as senior equerry to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The Palace confirmed that Thompson will be stepping down from his role within the Royal Household and the Armed Forces at the end of the year.
His departure will mark the end of an important chapter in his long association with the Royal Family, having supported senior royals through several significant moments in recent years.
Thompson, who has worked as a personal assistant to the King, is reportedly planning to pursue a new opportunity in the private sector after leaving his current position. The decision will also bring an end to his nearly 22-year military career with the British Army.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said Their Majesties had been aware of Thompson’s plans in advance and were grateful for his support throughout his years of service.
“Their Majesties were of course aware of this plan in advance and I know they are most grateful to Jonny for his support over the past seven years and wish him all the best for the future,” the spokesman said.
Thompson has become one of the more recognisable figures within the wider royal household over the years, regularly attracting attention from royal watchers during public appearances alongside senior members of the family.
The military officer, who is from Morpeth in Northumberland, has gained a loyal following among royal fans and has even earned several popular nicknames because of his appearances at major royal events.
His connection with the Royal Family dates back several years, following a distinguished military career that included overseas deployments.
Thompson joined the British Army in 2005 and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2006, 2009 and 2011 during his years of military service.
Following those tours, he went on to become one of Queen Elizabeth II’s most senior bodyguards before eventually taking on a prominent role supporting King Charles and Queen Camilla.
His departure comes at a notable time for the Royal Family, as King Charles continues to deal with important family matters, including reports surrounding Prince Harry’s efforts to strengthen his relationship with his father while spending more time in Britain.
While Buckingham Palace’s statement about Thompson is separate from Harry’s personal relationship with the King, both developments have placed renewed attention on the people and relationships surrounding Charles as the monarch navigates a significant period for the Royal Family.
