Aubrey Plaza Welcomes First Baby With Christopher Abbott After Emotional Year
Aubrey Plaza has welcomed her first baby with actor Christopher Abbott, as the actress was recently photographed holding her newborn daughter in New York City.
Plaza was photographed with the baby on Sunday, August 9, after attending what was reportedly Abbott’s final Broadway performance in Death of a Salesman. The public appearance offered the first apparent glimpse of the couple with their newborn following months of pregnancy speculation.
According to TMZ, Plaza gave birth to a baby girl during the final week of July. Neither Plaza nor Abbott has publicly confirmed the birth so far, and the couple has not revealed their daughter’s name.

Speaking on the SmartLess podcast in April, Plaza offered a lighthearted update about her pregnancy. She joked about having a baby on the way while also discussing a trip to the doctor that included her dog.
“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” Plaza said during the conversation, adding that she had visited the doctor that day and that her dog had also had a medical appointment.
Abbott later spoke about the pregnancy during an appearance on Today in May. The actor described the development as “very exciting,” offering a rare public comment about the couple’s growing family.
The reported birth comes after an especially difficult period in Plaza’s personal life. Her estranged husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, died by suicide in January 2025 at the age of 47.
Baena and Plaza had been together for roughly a decade before marrying in 2021. Reports later indicated that the pair had been separated for several months before his death.
