Ben Affleck has opened up about his dating life two years after his marriage to Jennifer Lopez ended, revealing that romance is currently far from the top of his list of priorities.
Speaking at the New York premiere of his new film Animals, the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker explained that he is not actively searching for a relationship because there is simply “not a lot of room” in his life for one right now.
“I’m not running around,” Affleck said, making it clear that he is not spending his time trying to find a new romantic partner.
The 54-year-old actor went on to describe himself as happy with his current situation, saying that dating “is just not a big priority” in his life and that he is “good and happy” being single.
Affleck explained that his priorities have become clearer, particularly when it comes to his family and career. “I know what my priorities are,” he said, emphasizing that he does not believe two things can simultaneously occupy the top position in his life.
“For me, that’s the kids,” Affleck said, placing his role as a father ahead of his romantic life. He shares three children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel, with his former wife Jennifer Garner.
Affleck also highlighted his professional commitments, describing his work as another major part of his life that continues to bring him fulfillment and purpose.
Rather than ruling out romance altogether, however, the actor suggested that he remains open to whatever may happen naturally. He said he is “great” where he is now and is willing to see what “adventures life will bring.”
“I’m open to it, but I’m not trying to chase anything,” Affleck added, offering a glimpse into his current approach to relationships and making it clear that he is comfortable letting life unfold without forcing a romantic connection.
His comments come after fresh speculation recently linked him to singer Shakira, with reports suggesting the two stars could potentially have a romantic connection.
Affleck directly addressed those rumors during the premiere, appearing surprised by the suggestion and saying he had never previously heard about the alleged connection.
“I hear s*** like that, honestly, first from people like you,” Affleck said when asked about the speculation, before dismissing the reports as gossip.
“I never heard that in my whole life,” he added, making his position on the Shakira rumors clear while criticizing the way celebrity speculation can spread.
Affleck’s comments arrive after his highly publicized relationship with Lopez, whom he married in 2022 following their rekindled romance years after their first engagement. The pair remained married for around two years before their divorce was finalized in 2025.
Now, rather than immediately stepping into another high-profile relationship, Affleck appears focused on his children and his work while leaving the door open for whatever comes next.
For the actor, the message is straightforward: romance is not off the table, but it is not something he is actively pursuing. His current priorities remain firmly centered on family, career and enjoying the life he has built following his split from Lopez.
