Prince William And Prince Harry’s Plans For Diana’s 30th Anniversary Revealed
Prince William and Prince Harry could face a difficult decision over Princess Diana’s 30th death anniversary next year, with royal author Phil Dampier suggesting that the estranged brothers are unlikely to reunite despite their shared love and respect for their late mother.
William and Harry were last seen in the same room around two years ago when they attended the funeral service of their uncle, Robert Fellowes. Despite being together at the same event, reports claimed that the brothers barely acknowledged each other.
The strained relationship has continued even as King Charles appears to have opened the door to rebuilding his connection with Harry. William, however, has reportedly remained reluctant to follow the same path.
There is nevertheless one important cause that continues to connect the brothers: their mother, Princess Diana. Both princes have repeatedly honoured her legacy through their charitable work and public commitments.
The Diana Award remains particularly significant because it is the only organisation for which both William and Harry serve as patrons, keeping a small but meaningful connection between the brothers alive.
That shared role has now raised questions about what could happen when the world marks the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death next year.
Royal author Phil Dampier believes the occasion could present a natural opportunity for William and Harry to put their differences aside, but he remains doubtful that they will actually come together.
“William and Harry put aside their differences for the unveiling of the statue of their mother Princess Diana [five years ago], but things are much worse now,” Dampier told the Daily Mail.
The brothers famously appeared together at the unveiling of Diana’s statue at Kensington Palace in 2021, temporarily putting their differences aside to honour their mother.
However, Dampier believes the situation has deteriorated considerably since then, making another joint appearance far more difficult.
He suggested that William would find it “very hard” to meet Harry again, even if the purpose were solely to commemorate Diana and celebrate her legacy.
The anniversary could therefore become an emotionally complicated occasion. While Diana’s memory remains deeply important to both brothers, their relationship has reached a point where even a shared tribute may prove difficult to arrange.
According to Dampier, William’s priorities have shifted firmly towards his own immediate family and his future responsibilities as King.
“Friends tell me that, as far as he is concerned, Harry is the past, and he is only concerned about the future for his wife Catherine and their children George, Charlotte and Louis,” the royal author claimed.
William has reportedly remained deeply unhappy about Harry’s past public revelations and criticism of the Royal Family. Those issues have created a level of mistrust that appears difficult to overcome quickly.
For now, Diana’s legacy remains one of the few areas where the brothers can still be seen as working towards a common purpose. Whether that shared connection will be strong enough to bring them together for the 30th anniversary remains uncertain, but the occasion could provide one of the most significant tests of their fractured relationship yet.
