Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Trigger Debate With New UK House Hunting Demands
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sparked fresh debate over their reported house hunting plans in UK, with claims that the couple are searching for a lavish property that could rival the luxury of their California home.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have an extensive wish list for their next UK residence, allegedly including a nine-bedroom estate, a private film studio and large amounts of secluded land.
Their reported demands have already attracted criticism from royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, who believes the couple’s search for a grand property raises questions about their previous complaints about life within the Royal Family.
Schofield discussed the Sussexes’ reported plans during an appearance with Fox News co-host Ainsley Earhardt, where the couple’s potential return to a more luxurious lifestyle in Britain became a major talking point.
The royal commentator pointed to Meghan’s previous descriptions of royal life as difficult and suggested that the couple’s reported property requirements appear to contrast with the image they have previously presented.
“The Sussexes have spent years telling us how suffocating royal life was,” Schofield said, arguing that their reported wish list could expose what she sees as a contradiction between their past statements and current preferences.
She went on to claim that the couple’s desire for a “palace style estate” was surprising, particularly given their decision to step back from royal duties and establish an independent life in the United States.
The latest discussion comes as Harry and Meghan reportedly begin another chapter in Britain with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after returning to the country.
The couple are said to be searching for a new family home in the UK following their reported arrival on a private jet on August 26, with their property requirements becoming a subject of growing speculation.
Meghan is reportedly keen to find a British residence that provides many of the luxuries and comforts she has become accustomed to at the family’s California property in Montecito.
Among the features reportedly being considered is a film studio, a detail that has attracted particular attention because of speculation surrounding Meghan’s professional future and a possible return to acting.
The former Suits actress stepped away from her acting career when her royal role became the focus of her public life, but recent reports have suggested that she could once again explore opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Harry, meanwhile, is reportedly said to have different priorities when it comes to finding a suitable home for the family, with privacy allegedly at the very top of his list.
According to reports, the Duke is looking for a property with “a lot, and I mean a lot, of land” and no public footpaths crossing the estate, as he and Meghan are said to be determined to protect their family’s privacy during their time in Britain.
