Kensington Palace Releases Emotional William and Kate Video After Prince Harry’s Painful Confession
Prince William and Princess Kate have shared a heartfelt new video from Belfast highlighting their work to help vulnerable young people, just a day after Prince Harry made an emotional revelation about the grief he experienced following Princess Diana’s death.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram account released footage and photographs from their visit to Northern Ireland, showing the couple smiling, embracing people and meeting young people involved in efforts to tackle homelessness.
The timing has attracted attention because Harry’s latest comments about his personal struggles have renewed public interest in the royal brothers and their very different experiences. However, there is no evidence that William and Kate’s video was released in response to Harry’s confession.
During their Belfast visit, the couple highlighted the work of NEON, a business-led network connected to their Homewards homelessness initiative that aims to help young people build independent lives through employment and support.
Kensington Palace drew attention to the challenges facing care leavers in Northern Ireland, noting that one in four are not in education, employment or training.
The statement also said that two-thirds experience homelessness within two years of leaving care, underlining the difficulties many young people face when they transition out of the care system.
At The Commons in Belfast, William and Kate met young people, employers and frontline organisations involved in NEON, discussing how job opportunities, relationships and support networks can help prevent homelessness.
The Palace explained that the network was launched in Northern Ireland in 2025 as the first test of a business-led, employment-focused approach to tackling the problem.
The initiative aims to address barriers that can prevent vulnerable young people from finding stable work and securing a more independent future.
The latest gathering also brought together NEON chairs from across the Homewards locations for the first time, alongside employers and frontline organisations. The goal was to share experience and explore how the approach could be expanded across the UK.
William and Kate’s visit forms part of their broader efforts to highlight homelessness prevention through Homewards, which works with local partners to develop practical solutions and support people at risk of losing their homes.
The video presented a more personal view of the couple’s engagement, capturing their interactions with those involved in the project rather than focusing solely on formal speeches or meetings.
Its release followed Harry’s emotional discussion about grief during a MasterClass conversation, in which he described the lasting impact of losing Diana and the difficulties he experienced processing the loss.
The two developments have prompted online comparisons between the brothers, but neither the Palace nor the Sussexes has suggested that the Belfast video was intended as a response to Harry’s remarks.
Instead, the footage highlights William and Kate’s continuing work on homelessness, an issue the couple have made a central part of their public programme.
While the timing may draw attention, the clearest message from the video concerns the challenges facing care leavers and the importance of helping young people access employment, supportive relationships and secure housing.
