The Palace revealed that Sophie recently visited The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, where she learned more about the charity’s work and met athletes who benefit from its programmes.
“That’s one way to cool down in a heatwave…” the Royal Family wrote alongside the photographs, referring to the Duchess taking to the indoor slopes during her visit.
The Palace continued by announcing Sophie’s new role as Royal Patron of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team, an organisation supporting wounded, injured and sick serving personnel as well as veterans.
The charity uses adaptive skiing, snowboarding and Nordic disciplines to help participants develop confidence, resilience and a stronger sense of community following injury or illness.
During her visit, Sophie heard about the breadth of the organisation’s programmes before joining athletes on the indoor slopes and experiencing some of the activities herself.
The appearance marked an important early engagement for the Duchess following her appointment as patron and demonstrated her willingness to become directly involved in the work of organisations she supports.
