Princess Anne’s Family Celebrates as Daughter in Law Harriet Phillips Takes on Prestigious New Role

Princess Anne’s family has received a welcome boost after Harriet Phillips, the wife of Peter Phillips, was appointed patron of a charity supporting vulnerable families and young children.

Harriet revealed her new position during an interview with Hello! magazine, explaining that she was delighted to take on the role with Home-Start Cotswolds.

The appointment marks another important chapter in her professional life, following years of work as a specialist nurse within the NHS.

Harriet has stepped back from her medical career to focus on supporting families, particularly those dealing with challenges during the early years of parenthood.

Her experience as a healthcare professional has given her a close understanding of the pressures new parents can face and the importance of providing support before difficulties become overwhelming.

She explained that becoming a parent can be both a wonderful and challenging experience, making it essential for families to receive help when they need it.

Harriet also highlighted the importance of looking after babies’ wellbeing from an early age, noting that parents need support themselves to provide the best possible environment for their children.

Speaking about her connection with the charity, she revealed that she had already worked with Home-Start as a specialist nurse in Gloucestershire and had personally referred families to its services.

“Having worked with Home-Start as a specialist nurse in Gloucestershire, I had seen its impact first-hand and referred families to it,” she explained.

Harriet added that the organisation later approached her about becoming its patron, describing the opportunity as a natural extension of her previous work.

“If I can do anything to shine a light on something positive for families and children, I’m thrilled to do it,” she said.

The new role will see Harriet become an advocate for the charity, helping raise awareness of its work and the support it provides to parents and children.

She explained that her responsibilities would include attending events, taking part in meetings and appearing on the organisation’s website and social media platforms.

Harriet also plans to visit community groups, allowing her to meet volunteers and parents directly and better understand the challenges they face.

Her appointment reflects a continued commitment to supporting families, drawing on the knowledge and experience she gained during her years in healthcare.

The role also adds another charitable connection to Princess Anne’s extended family, with Peter’s wife taking on a position that builds on her longstanding interest in children’s wellbeing.

For Harriet, the appointment is more than an honorary title. It offers an opportunity to use her professional experience to help families and bring greater attention to the importance of early support.
