Princess Kate Receives Heartfelt Apology from Kylie Kelce After She Admits Royal Name Mistake

Princess Kate has received a direct apology from podcaster Kylie Kelce after the wife of former NFL star Jason Kelce acknowledged that she had referred to the future Queen incorrectly during an earlier episode of her show.

Kylie addressed the issue on the latest episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast after some royal followers objected to her calling Catherine “Princess Kate” while extending an invitation for her to appear on the programme.

“I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine Princess Kate was offensive,” Kylie explained while addressing the reaction to her previous comments.

She added: “I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly,” making clear that she had not intended to cause offence or disrespect the Princess of Wales.

Kylie said she considered the episode a genuine mistake and would make an effort in future to address people in the way they consider most appropriate and respectful.

She then directed an apology specifically towards William’s wife, saying: “Princess Catherine, or the Princess of Wales, I apologise. I will get that sorted immediately, starting now.”

The discussion began after Kylie used a previous episode of her podcast to invite Catherine onto the show for what she imagined could be an informal conversation about their shared interests.

“Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We got a couple things in common,” she said at the time.

Her invitation was intended as a friendly gesture, but the terminology attracted attention because Catherine has been the Princess of Wales since King Charles bestowed the Prince and Princess of Wales titles on William and Catherine in 2022.

Kylie also referenced Prince William’s previous appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her husband Jason and his brother Travis Kelce, highlighting the growing crossover between the royals and the famous American family.

Following criticism from some royal fans, Kylie chose to address the matter directly rather than ignore the reaction, explaining that she had learned from the response.

Her comments have consequently transformed what began as a minor royal-name controversy into a public apology to Catherine, while leaving Kylie’s invitation for the Princess to appear on her podcast open.

The episode comes as Catherine continues carrying out royal engagements while considerable attention remains focused on relations between the Waleses and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following the Sussexes’ return to Britain.

Separate speculation has suggested Harry and Meghan could eventually offer apologies as part of efforts to improve relations with members of the Royal Family, including Catherine. No such apology has been publicly confirmed, however, and Kylie’s message is unrelated to those reports. For now, the podcaster has made her own position clear that she intended no disrespect and plans to address the Princess of Wales more carefully going forward.
