Prince Harry Drawn Into Fresh Prince William Tensions as Betrayal Claim Emerges
Prince Harry has become the focus of fresh tension with Prince William with an insider claiming the future King views his younger brother’s apparent closeness with Charles Spencer as a “betrayal” amid controversy surrounding the new Princess Diana memoir.
The Royal Family has faced a series of difficult controversies in recent years, from Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from working royal life to the fallout surrounding Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Now, Charles Spencer’s Swan Song: Diana, My Sister has returned Diana’s painful history with the monarchy to the spotlight through a series of disputed allegations involving King Charles and events surrounding her death.
According to an unnamed source speaking to Closer, the various pressures have weighed heavily on William, although claims about his private emotional state have not been confirmed by Kensington Palace.
“He’s worried about his father; he’s worried about the future of the monarchy; he’s worried about what his brother is going to do next,” the insider claimed.
Harry has become drawn into the controversy because Spencer revealed that both the Duke of Sussex and Prince William knew about his book before its publication.
During an interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, Spencer said of his nephews, “These words will not be a surprise to them,” indicating they had some awareness of what the memoir would contain.
That does not establish that Harry approved of Spencer’s allegations or formed an alliance with his uncle. The Duke has not publicly endorsed the memoir’s disputed claims about his father.
Nevertheless, the Closer source alleged that William views Harry’s relationship with Spencer very differently and is deeply unhappy about what he perceives to be an alliance between them.
“William is seeing this alliance that Harry has formed with their uncle, and it’s got him incensed and calling both Harry and Earl Spencer traitors,” the insider claimed.
The allegation suggests William may view the situation as a serious betrayal amid the brothers’ already strained relationship. However, there has been no public confirmation from William about his private reaction to Harry or Spencer.
William has instead remained publicly silent about his uncle’s memoir. When reporters recently attempted to question him about the book during a royal engagement, the Prince of Wales continued inside without responding.
Harry has similarly avoided publicly entering the dispute between Spencer and Charles, despite speculation about where his loyalties lie. His silence cannot by itself establish support for either his uncle or his father.
With Spencer’s book continuing to generate headlines and William and Harry approaching the emotionally significant 30th anniversary of Diana’s death in 2027, the brothers remain under intense scrutiny. For now, however, claims of William feeling betrayed remain based on an unnamed insider’s account rather than a confirmed statement from the future King.
