King Charles Reaches Out to Prince Harry as Diana Book Brings Fresh Royal Tensions
King Charles reportedly reached out to Prince Harry with a personal birthday call as Charles Spencer’s forthcoming Princess Diana memoir creates another difficult moment for the Royal Family and brings old family tensions back into focus.
Harry recently described his return to Britain with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as “eventful,” with the Sussex family facing several unexpected developments while establishing their new UK routine.
There had been signs that Harry’s relationship with his father could be moving in a more positive direction, although Palace guidance subsequently clarified that the Sussexes remain non-working royals operating as private citizens.
That clarification generated renewed discussion about Harry and Meghan’s position, before attention shifted towards Spencer’s Swan Song: Diana, My Sister and its disputed recollections involving the King.
Despite those pressures, Charles may be attempting to keep his personal relationship with Harry separate from wider Palace controversies, with a new report claiming the monarch contacted his younger son for his birthday.
Harry marked his 42nd birthday last week and apparently received greetings from more members of the Royal Family than some observers might have expected, according to sources cited by commentator Rob Shuter.
“Harry heard from more royals than people would expect, including his father,” an unnamed royal source claimed, suggesting that family contact continued despite the tensions surrounding the Sussexes.
According to the report, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were also among the relatives who reached out to Harry to mark his birthday.
“The King reached out because Harry is still his son, and Charles wasn’t going to let a birthday pass without acknowledging that,” the insider claimed while explaining the monarch’s reported gesture.
The source added that other relatives felt similarly, saying: “Nobody wanted to turn Harry’s birthday into another royal battlefield” amid an already complicated period for the family.
However, the report suggests that one significant relationship remains unchanged. Prince William and Princess Kate allegedly did not contact Harry privately for his birthday.
“From William and Catherine? Nothing. No call, no text, no private message. Not a word,” the source claimed, although neither William nor Kate has publicly confirmed whether private birthday contact occurred.
The insider further alleged that William had an opportunity to reach out to his younger brother but chose not to do so, suggesting their long-running estrangement remains unresolved despite Harry’s return to Britain.
While the reported calls have not been publicly confirmed by the royals involved, Charles’ gesture would represent a small personal olive branch at a sensitive time. With Spencer’s Diana memoir creating fresh difficulties, the King appears keen to prevent every Palace controversy from becoming another obstacle between himself and Harry.
