Prince William and Princess Kate are preparing for a major joint appearance at a historic royal event, just days after a high-profile charity engagement reportedly involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was abruptly cancelled.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the Royal Film Performance world premiere of Digger on Tuesday, supporting the Film and TV Charity as the organisation celebrates its centenary during the 73rd Royal Film Performance.
The glamorous engagement will mark another prominent appearance for William and Kate since Harry and Meghan returned to Britain, with the two couples’ activities attracting heightened attention amid speculation about their respective public profiles.
Talk of a possible “rival court” has followed the Sussexes since their return, although there is no evidence that William and Kate are deliberately arranging their engagements to compete with Harry and Meghan for headlines.
Nevertheless, the timing of the Royal Film Performance has attracted additional interest because it follows the reported cancellation of a black-tie event connected with The Diana Award, a charity uniquely associated with both royal brothers.
Royal editor Charlotte Griffiths previously claimed the Diana Award gala had been scheduled for September 18 at Raffles London at The OWO, with Harry reportedly expected to take a leading role at the event.
