Former British Airways cabin crew member Helena Ford has revealed an unusual rule that reportedly applies to royal air travel. According to Ford, senior royals cannot simply choose First Class when travelling on a commercial aircraft.
Ford explained that when First Class is available, royals are expected to travel in Business Class instead. If an aircraft does not offer First Class, she said they would use Traveller Plus.
The former crew member also recalled a flight involving William and Kate and described the unusual security arrangements surrounding them. She claimed the couple travelled in Business Class while the rest of the cabin was occupied by members of their security team.
According to Ford, the security officers were dressed like ordinary passengers, meaning people travelling nearby would not necessarily have realized that they were part of the royal protection operation.
The revelation highlights how carefully royal travel is organized, even when William and Kate appear to be travelling like regular passengers. Security personnel can remain discreet while staying close enough to respond quickly if necessary.
