Prince William and Prince Harry’s Former Aide Speaks Out on Ongoing Royal Rift

Former royal aide Jamie Lowther Pinkerton has shared rare comments about the ongoing rift between Prince William and Prince Harry, offering new insight into the strained relationship between the royal brothers.

Lowther-Pinkerton served as private secretary to both Prince William and Prince Harry from 2005 until 2013. During that period, he worked closely with the brothers throughout some of the most important years of their royal lives.

The former aide recently opened up during an interview with The Times on June 22. His remarks quickly attracted attention from royal watchers eager for any signs regarding the future of the royal family.

When questioned directly about the tensions between William and Harry, Lowther-Pinkerton responded cautiously. Rather than discussing private details, he chose a diplomatic tone while acknowledging his affection for Prince Harry.

The former royal aide stated that he preferred to “steer clear” of the issue involving Harry and the royal family. However, he also made it clear that he still holds Prince Harry in high regard.

According to Lowther-Pinkerton, the Duke of Sussex possesses many positive qualities despite the controversies that have surrounded him in recent years. He described himself as a “perennial optimist” while discussing Harry’s future.

Royal commentators noted that the remarks were carefully balanced and avoided directly criticizing either side. Many observers interpreted the comments as a subtle sign that hope for reconciliation still exists.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton’s background within the royal household has made his opinions particularly significant. Before serving William and Harry, he also worked as an equerry to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

In addition to his royal service, Lowther-Pinkerton is a former SAS soldier with decades of experience inside royal circles. His long relationship with both princes gives him unique insight into their personalities and family dynamics.

Prince Harry himself has previously spoken publicly about his desire to repair family relationships. In an interview with BBC News in May 2025, he admitted that he would welcome reconciliation with his loved ones.

During that interview, Harry reportedly stated that there was “no point in continuing to fight anymore.” His comments sparked renewed discussion about whether peace within the royal family could eventually be possible.

The latest remarks from Lowther-Pinkerton come at a time when speculation surrounding Harry’s possible return to the United Kingdom continues to grow. Reports suggest the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may soon visit Britain with their children.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering a family trip to the UK alongside Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. If confirmed, the visit would mark the children’s first return to Britain in several years.

The timing is particularly important because next month marks the one year countdown to the Birmingham edition of the Invictus Games. Harry and Meghan have previously attended Invictus promotional events together, making another appearance highly likely.

While tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry remain unresolved, comments from former insiders continue to fuel hope that communication between the brothers may not be completely beyond repair in the future.
