King Charles Said to Have ‘Given In’ to Prince Harry’s Security Plea as Sussexes Prepare for UK Return
King Charles said to have finally given in to Prince Harry’s long running demand for security as the Duke of Sussex prepares for a more permanent return to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children.
Harry previously stressed that he would not bring his wife and children back to Britain after losing his security appeal in May 2025. During a BBC interview following the court ruling, the Duke spoke about his hopes of reconciling with his family but insisted that security remained a major concern.
A year later, however, the Sussex family returned to British soil and met with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Around six weeks after that visit, reports emerged suggesting that Harry and Meghan were preparing to move back to the UK.
Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Harry’s security arrangements, the timing has now raised questions over whether the situation surrounding Harry’s protection is changing.
The Royalist’s Tom Sykes has claimed that it would be “absurd” to assume King Charles has had no involvement in the matter, particularly after the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) completed its long-awaited risk management review.
According to Sykes, the developments suggest that efforts to secure state-funded protection for Harry during his time in Britain are already well underway.
“Harry is being folded back into British life by his father,” Tom claimed, suggesting that Charles may have played a role behind the scenes.
Sources close to Harry have previously maintained that the King could help secure protection for his son if he wanted to. The latest developments have therefore fueled speculation that Charles may now be taking a more active approach. However, any intervention by the monarch could prove controversial.
Harry’s security battle has already involved lengthy legal proceedings, with the Duke challenging decisions surrounding the level of protection he receives when visiting Britain. He also privately asked Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to review the situation.
Sykes warned that if Charles has intervened in the matter, the King could face criticism over the decision. He argued that the royal household should provide a transparent explanation if the monarch has played a role in changing Harry’s security arrangements, particularly given the sensitivity surrounding taxpayer-funded protection.
“Defying the people is a very unwise move for a monarch,” Sykes said, warning that the controversy surrounding Harry’s security is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
For Harry, improved security arrangements could remove one of the biggest obstacles he has previously cited when discussing a return to Britain with his family.
It could also represent a significant shift in his relationship with the royal family, particularly if King Charles is indeed helping facilitate the Sussexes’ return.
However, no direct evidence has been presented to confirm that the King personally intervened in Harry’s security arrangements. For now, the developments have left the Duke’s long-running security dispute firmly back in the spotlight, just as speculation surrounding the Sussexes’ future in Britain continues to grow.
