Prince Harry Steps Back From Key Position After Reported Balmoral Royal Summit
Prince Harry has stepped away from a key position after around a decade of involvement in key organization, with the announcement coming shortly after a reported meeting involving senior members of the royal family at Balmoral.
According to Express UK, the Duke of Sussex will no longer serve on the board of directors of African Parks following a refresh of the organization’s board.
Harry has been involved with the charity for the past 10 years and has supported its efforts to protect Africa’s wildlife and preserve its wild areas.
Although he is leaving his formal position on the board, he is expected to remain supportive of the organization’s wider conservation mission.
The change was confirmed as African Parks refreshed its board, with the charity expressing its gratitude to Harry and other members who have given their time to support its work.
Vas Narasimhan, Chairperson of the African Parks Board, praised the departing members and specifically acknowledged Harry’s decade of service.
“We extend our thanks to all the members of the Board who generously volunteer their time in support of our conservation mission – and particularly to The Duke of Sussex, for a decade of committed service to African Parks,” Narasimhan said.
Harry’s decision marks the end of his official role with the organization, although it does not necessarily mean he is ending his association with conservation work.
The timing of the announcement has also attracted attention because it comes amid reports of a meeting between King Charles, Prince William and other members of the royal family at Balmoral.
The gathering has reportedly been described as a Sussex “summit,” with discussions said to have included Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans to spend more time in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to make their home in California since stepping down as senior working royals. However, reports of a possible extended return to Britain have recently renewed speculation about their future relationship with the royal family.
