Kensington Palace Reportedly Braces For Harry And Meghan’s UK Return As William Faces Fresh Pressure
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported decision to return to the UK for an extended period has sparked fresh speculation about how Prince William and Princess Kate are preparing for the Sussexes’ arrival.
The couple are reportedly keeping their homes in California and Portugal while establishing a private base in Britain, with the development creating renewed questions about their future relationship with the Royal Family.
It was initially claimed that Harry and Meghan informed King Charles about their plans on Sunday, just days before the announcement became public, leading to speculation that William and Kate may have been caught unaware.
However, newer reports suggest the Prince and Princess of Wales had received “prior warning” about the Sussexes’ decision before the news was officially confirmed, potentially giving them time to prepare.
Kensington Palace has reportedly remained silent since the announcement, while speculation continues over how William has reacted privately to the unexpected development involving his estranged younger brother.
Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt told GB News that Harry’s return could eventually create the possibility of two competing royal centres, particularly if the Sussexes establish a significant presence in Britain.
Hunt suggested that Harry’s presence in the UK could also strengthen his relationship with Charles, while making it increasingly difficult for William to avoid addressing the fractured relationship between the brothers.
The royal commentator further claimed that Harry and Meghan’s surprise return was likely to have left William extremely angry, although there has been no official confirmation from Kensington Palace about the Prince’s private reaction.
The possibility of Harry spending considerably more time in Britain has inevitably raised questions about whether the brothers could eventually move toward reconciliation after years of tension and limited communication.
However, reports have also claimed that preparations are underway within royal circles, with speculation that William has held discussions about how Harry and Meghan should fit into the monarchy if their UK presence becomes more permanent.
One particularly dramatic claim suggests that William has called a crisis meeting and that his legal team is examining ways to prevent the Sussexes from returning to an official position within the Royal Family.
The reports allege that William remains deeply concerned about Harry being offered a “half-in, half-out” arrangement, particularly because of the unresolved trust issues that have developed between the brothers.
Such an arrangement would be highly complicated because Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in 2020 and subsequently established their lives primarily outside the UK.
For William, allowing the Sussexes to regain an official royal position without clearly defined boundaries could reportedly create concerns about the future direction and stability of the monarchy.
For Harry and Meghan, however, their reported return could provide an opportunity to spend more time with family while rebuilding their connection with Charles, even if relations with William remain difficult.
For now, Kensington Palace has not publicly confirmed claims about crisis meetings, legal preparations or William’s private feelings, leaving the reported tensions surrounding the Sussexes’ UK return firmly in the realm of speculation.
