Prince William And Prince Harry’s Rift Deepens As Brothers Go Separate Ways During UK Visit
Prince William and Prince Harry’s strained relationship has come under renewed scrutiny after the brothers went their separate ways during Harry’s latest visit to the United Kingdom, with William attending a polo event while Harry focused on his private meeting with King Charles.
Harry returned to Britain in July for a significant meeting with his father, marking the first known face-to-face encounter between the Duke of Sussex and the King since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
However, Prince William was notably absent from Harry’s schedule. The Prince of Wales instead attended the Royal Charity Polo Cup at Windsor Great Park, meaning there was no reported opportunity for the brothers to meet during Harry’s visit.
The separate appearances have once again drawn attention to the long-running tension between William and Harry. Their relationship has remained strained since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States.
The latest developments have also prompted renewed interest in when the brothers were last publicly seen together. Despite both continuing to attend major royal and family occasions, their paths have rarely crossed in public in recent years.
William and Harry were last seen together publicly at their father’s coronation at Westminster Abbey in May 2023. The historic occasion brought the brothers into the same venue, but their physical distance was noticeable throughout the ceremony.
Harry was seated several rows behind William alongside his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The televised ceremony offered little indication of any meaningful interaction between the brothers during the event.
Following the coronation, Harry left the United Kingdom shortly afterwards and returned to California, where he was expected to celebrate his son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday with Meghan and their children.
The brothers reportedly crossed paths again in August 2024 at the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes, the late brother-in-law of their mother, Princess Diana. The private family occasion was held in Norfolk as relatives and close friends gathered to remember the former private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II.
Both William and Harry attended the service at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham. However, because it was a private family event, there were no public photographs showing the brothers together.
Reports at the time suggested that William and Harry did not speak to each other during the funeral. They were also reportedly seated separately, further highlighting the difficult state of their relationship.
The lack of a public reunion during Harry’s latest UK visit has therefore added another chapter to the brothers’ increasingly complicated relationship. Harry’s meeting with King Charles was viewed as an important moment for the father and son, but William remained elsewhere.
For royal watchers, the situation is particularly striking because William and Harry once shared a close bond and were frequently seen together during their younger years. Their increasingly separate public lives now stand in sharp contrast to that earlier relationship.
