Kate Middleton Makes Key Announcement As Prince Harry Fire Back After Shocking Allegations
Kate Middleton has revealed her next royal engagement as she prepares to take part in a major ceremonial event while Prince Harry faces fresh scrutiny linked to the Invictus Games controversy.
The Princess of Wales, who serves as Colonel of the Irish Guards, will attend the regiment’s annual St Patrick’s Day parade at Mons Barracks, according to an announcement from Kensington Palace.
During the ceremony, the future queen will carry out one of the most cherished traditions of the parade by presenting sprigs of shamrock to officers and guardsmen. The soldiers will then distribute the shamrock along the ranks as part of the historic celebration.
In addition to the ceremonial tradition, the princess will also present long service and good conduct medals to members of the regiment in recognition of their dedication and achievements within the military.
Following the presentation of the awards, a Royal Salute will be conducted to formally conclude the parade. The troops will then perform a march past as Catherine salutes them in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards.
The Princess of Wales will also spend time with members of the regiment’s association and young cadets known as the “Mini Micks,” who travel from Northern Ireland to take part in the celebrations.
The Irish Guards are one of the most distinguished regiments in the British Army, performing both ceremonial duties and frontline combat roles. Their soldiers are trained in advanced combat skills including reconnaissance, sniper operations, machine gun support, mortars, and anti tank missile systems.
Alongside their operational responsibilities, the regiment also serves as a ceremonial bodyguard to King Charles, frequently standing guard at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
In recent years the Irish Guards have also been involved in strengthening the United Kingdom’s military capabilities in modern drone warfare, highlighting their evolving role within the armed forces.
Last year Catherine attended the annual St Patrick’s Day parade after missing the ceremony in 2024. Her absence followed major abdominal surgery earlier that year and the cancer diagnosis she later publicly revealed.
Her upcoming appearance marks another step in her gradual return to full royal duties after a challenging period for her health.
The announcement comes at the same time as Prince Harry faces renewed debate surrounding the Invictus Games. The Duke of Sussex’s team recently issued a strong response after royal biographer Tom Bower claimed the competition had shifted focus away from veterans and become what he described as the “Harry and Meghan show.”
Representatives for the Invictus Games rejected those claims, calling them deeply disrespectful to the wounded service personnel and veterans the event was created to support.
As discussions around Harry’s flagship initiative continue, Catherine’s latest announcement highlights her ongoing role in supporting the armed forces through her work with the Irish Guards.
