Prince Harry Reunites With Princess Diana’s Nephew During Surprise Night Out in Britain

Prince Harry has reunited with Princess Diana nephew and his cousin George McCorquodale during a surprise night out in Leicester, offering a glimpse of his continuing connections with Diana’s side of the family amid ongoing speculation about his relationship with the wider Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex attended a rugby match between Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby on Friday evening at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium, enjoying the occasion with friends.

Among those reportedly present was George, the son of Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, making the outing a family moment as well as a sporting occasion.

Harry and George are said to have spent considerable time together growing up, meeting at family gatherings and maintaining links through the Spencer side of the family.

The reported reunion has attracted attention because Harry’s relationships with relatives on his mother’s side have remained a subject of interest since he and Meghan Markle stepped back from working royal duties in 2020.

Despite the public scrutiny surrounding the Sussexes’ departure, Harry has continued to maintain connections with members of Diana’s family. His appearance with George suggests those family ties remain relevant in his life, although the cousins have not publicly discussed the details of their relationship.

Harry and Meghan also attended the wedding of George’s sister, Celia McCorquodale, in 2018, shortly after their own wedding. The event brought the Sussexes together with relatives from Diana’s side of the family.

Other members of the Spencer family have also appeared at important events connected to Harry. In 2024, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Charles Spencer attended a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

The service celebrated the sporting initiative Harry founded to support wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans. The presence of Diana’s relatives highlighted their public support for the occasion.

Harry’s latest reported outing has therefore prompted fresh interest in the family relationships that have continued alongside the changes in his royal role.

However, there is no indication that the meeting with George was arranged as part of a wider plan involving King Charles, Prince William or other senior royals. A reunion between cousins does not necessarily signal progress towards a broader family reconciliation.

The outing also comes amid continued discussion about Harry’s visits to Britain and the possibility of further time with relatives. Any plans involving Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, remain separate from the reported meeting in Leicester.

For now, the rugby match offered Harry an opportunity to enjoy a sporting event with friends and reconnect with a relative from his mother’s family. The encounter is a reminder that his personal relationships extend beyond the continuing public debate over the Sussexes’ place in royal life.

Whether the meeting signals anything more significant remains unclear. Neither Harry nor George has publicly indicated that the outing represents a new development in the wider family situation.
